I can't now remember which book it was in (might have been Irreversible Damage) but there was a story of an trans-identifying female ballerina who had found a ballet company that allowed her to train as a male.

Obviously, male and female ballerinas have very different roles, males doing lifting and other 'heavy' work (not a ballet expert so not sure if there's terminology) and female ballerinas are famously light and waifish. Our trans identified ballerina wouldn't have had the strength to perform a male role in a ballet (no shade, I absolutely wouldn't either) but the poor choreographer had to redo the choreography several times to allow for this and then I think she left the company anyway because, unsurprisingly, she couldn't perform male roles.

You'd think the arts would be absolutely in thrall to this nonsense but apparently not.
