Removing for rule 2.

This would be better suited for s/GenderCritical or s/ThereAreTwoGenders

I can't now remember which book it was in (might have been Irreversible Damage) but there was a story of an trans-identifying female ballerina who had found a ballet company that allowed her to train as a male.

Obviously, male and female ballerinas have very different roles, males doing lifting and other 'heavy' work (not a ballet expert so not sure if there's terminology) and female ballerinas are famously light and waifish. Our trans identified ballerina wouldn't have had the strength to perform a male role in a ballet (no shade, I absolutely wouldn't either) but the poor choreographer had to redo the choreography several times to allow for this and then I think she left the company anyway because, unsurprisingly, she couldn't perform male roles.

You'd think the arts would be absolutely in thrall to this nonsense but apparently not.

The article lacks meaningful context about what a "gender-neutral" dressing room would even be like, versus whatever they had already. But in any case, it smacks of wanting a certain color of M&Ms removed as a contractual condition (which as I recall was a bit of trolling put into contracts by the band who used that clause, to see if they were being read). I'd be not wanting to deal with that person anymore, either, since victimhood seems to be their agenda.

But...it needs more context. I don't get what the complaint is about. "Wrong" signs on a door? Fantastical imaginings? They could hear people who know they are male or female nearby? Can't imagine. Do not all dressing rooms have chairs, makeup, costumes, mirrors, lights? Etc.

In related news: Difficult people have difficulties getting hired by people who want to keep their sanity

Even in a notoriously open-minded industry like acting, I'd wager that the people making decisions will prefer to take on people that don't make everyone else's job harder. (Not to mention make the production more expensive, because even something as silly as a "gender-neutral dressing room" will not come for free.)
