I highly doubt it. In all the decades I've been on the internet, I don't think I've ever seen a single post that was "good faith" which said the words.

Regarding the recent post asking about a trans man having sex with a cis gay man, I don’t understand how it’s considered conversion therapy.

Of course you don't, you didn't actually listen to the people who expressed it.

What a surprise, I had no idea you were trans. I totally didn't expect it from everything you said already.

This post is a “safe space” for objective discussion of opinions that some consider to be transphobic. I have and will continue to address responses that challenge these viewpoints, but this post has the potential to grow beyond my ability to manage it.

This was the goal - to appear as if he was the one open to civil and sincere debate and to portray us as the unreasonable, hateful ones. In reality, he's the one that came into a gay subreddit asking gay men to justify their reaction to conversion therapy rhetoric. Textbook sealioning.

If you haven't read the whole thing yet I recommend it. I'm on the fence about that being an ulterior motive. A couple of hotheads started derailing things near the end and he decided not to entertain it, from what I saw, and I did read the whole thing.

Doesn't mean he didn't show up with pre-formed opinions but there seemed to be some actual interest on his part in differing ones, beyond lip service.

Feel free to refute this but that is what I saw. However, it would be easy to not trust that type of approach because sealioning, general trolling, gaslighting, and abuse are such common problems from TRAs, so that guy had the odds stacked against him no matter what. But I didn't pick up on as much insincerity as I would need to see for this to be my conclusion. He was a little robotic in how he responded and thanked people but we could interpret that as trying to maintain a consistent demeanor throughout.

I agree he tried to listen. But then got offended and left lol. He seems to be a classic transsexual, not a tra, though he holds some of the gender beliefs. I don’t think he realizes how much of the world has moved past the “poor dysphoric trans” dynamic, and onto “anyone can be trans, and only on Tuesday if they want” it seems like so many public discussions are stuck at a definition of trans from years ago, including that thread.

Yes, he was using a saner definition. I wouldn't call that being stuck in the past, but I agree, it isn't easy to tell if he knows how twisted things have become.
