And someone already started comparing trans people to Holocaust victims over this…

I really hope the world either peaks or just self destructs soon

I’m really in love with the angry guy in the replies responding with a gif from Helm’s Deep. Buddy, we’re trying to get away from you, not take over you. You are Saruman’s forces and we are Rohan in this scenario.

Tweet quote: Two weeks ago Ofcom released their report on diversity in UK broadcasting

Having ditched stonewalluk, they now refer to LGBTQ+ as just LGB. Trans "identities" are now "considered under gender" but aren't mentioned, and queer people are erased entirely.

"Queer people are erased entirely"--did they check under the heterosexuals that need constant attention category?

One of the psycho hyperbolic reactions.

Stopping trans people from being able to speak seems very Berlin 1933 and I would definitely have an emergency bag and your passport up to date. They didnt start with camps they just executed in the woods.

These people are so nuts LOL...

I am so wishing that I could see prepping videos of trans people creating gobags for the sex acknowledgment apocalypse. 😂 What would they carry?🤔

The idea that these terminally online people are going to venture further than the kitchen is hillarious.

[–]Rag3[S] 5 insightful - 5 fun5 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

Fine, they can stay in the kitchen. Watching them try canning for the apocalypse is still hilarious to me 🤣. "I learned this recipe from Cooking Mama and Isekai Shokudou."

This sounds funny now but they're so mentally unstable and under such delusions of oppression that this wartime resistance larp might lead to one of them cooking up a Valkyrie-esque bomb for some lgb organization meeting to "bring down the fascists".

Yea, based on Y The Last Man TV show the most important thing in the world for FTM people is their testosterone.

Someone should tell them they have to turn off their devices because the light from their screens might be seen during incoming air raids.

Trans people are the definition of Berlin 1933. Can’t have those dirty homos in the new Reich! Make them women instead! /s

Using LGB to refer to orientations and gender to refer to the gender feels gang has really pissed people off. Why do the TQ+ need to constantly be mentioned if they're talking about sexual orientations?

Also glad they're emphasizing that sexual orientation is a protected class. Now if only the rest of the UK government could recognize that and start using their hate incident laws to go after homophobic TRAs.

The T needs validation of their fetish, that's all

[–]wafflegaffWoman. SuperBi. 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And we've seen instances of them talking about knowing full well that if they couldn't ride our LGB coattails they wouldn't have leverage or authority when they seek to capture policy. I would say they are past that now and can grow up and leave the nest. They just don't want to. We're basically human shields to them.

I think reading their actual verbiage is in order, here, as it's a bit vague and makes it sound like they are actually apologizing for continuing to use "LGB" for continuity's sake, and expect to update some things in the future.

I can't definitively interpret what that tweet claims—I don't see a solid commitment in that verbiage to using LGB in the future in quite the way that is being asserted.

I'm also distracted at the moment so if someone has something more definitive, please toss it in here.

[–]Horror-SwordfishI don't get how flairs work 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Yeah, that's kind of how it sounded to me, too, when I was reading the screenshots. The original tweet is clearly someone that's upset that "queer people are being erased!!!!!" so she is probably willfully misinterpreting what is being said in the screenshots as some negative thing when it does come across like them saying, "We've always used LGB for sexuality and gender for T but we know that's bad but we have to for consistency's sake."

[–]wafflegaffWoman. SuperBi. 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yup. They really don't seem to be announcing that as something new. And it makes sense that the tweeter wouldn't care all that much about accuracy, since...generally, disregarding accuracy in order to make specious claims is their whole shtick. It's just ironic in this case that it becomes a self-inflicted freak-out. I don't see what the fuss is about here for a TQ+ person.

It was a nice sense of restored sanity while it lasted, for those few seconds.

and queer people are erased entirely

Lolwut? What even are "queer" people at this point then if just having it lgb completely erases them? Who ended up "reclaiming" the word mostly used on gay people? Clearly not actual gay people.

Were Ofcom one of the orgs that dropped Stonewall after Truss announced it was causing conflicts of interest?

[–]Rag3[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yes! A couple of months later.

So is there some behind-the-scenes puppet master that the LGB Alliance has gotten through to in the UK? This is all happening very suddenly.
