I remember when it was "girls can be whatever they want when they grow up" and now we're back to "these activities are for boys and these activities are for girls" just with the added twist where if the child picks the wrong one they get turned into a medical experimentation for the rest of their life. YAY!

Before: "don't do this, because muh gender roles"

Now: "don't do this, because muh identity"

Yeah, history is repeating now as a farce.

…instead of raising their child without gender stereotypes, they reinforced gender stereotypes by teaching their child that certain things are aligned with certain genders? They couldn’t have just let her play with whatever toys she wanted and moved on? (Let’s be real. This child is obviously a girl.)

Also, they worried she might be intersex someday? My lord. You only have to run a blood work panel to find out if you’re that worried. It’s not like intersex conditions are something you come down with like the flu.

This couple reeks of “quirky” straight people who are dying for attention. They don’t care how much they mess up their kid’s life or how much they fuel anti-gay sentiments. As long as they get their likes, they’re satisfied. Everyone else be damned.

I'm still not entirely convinced it's not satire. I mean, the kid's name is fucking Zoomer.

I admire your optimism, Chunkee. Meanwhile, I live in the deepest recesses of pessimism.

That child is obviously a girl. Hopefully they tell "Zoomer" (awful name) about her female anatomy so she won't be mortified, like Carrie, when she starts her menstrual cycle. 🩸🩸🩸

Oh wait, they'll tell her that some boys menstruate as ovary-havers. 🤦

Vaginas and penises are a social construct.

All body parts are, they're just fleshy bits of anatomy, nothing more. Descriptive language and science is being used by supremacists to corrupt and isolate our culture.

"Our culture" being whatever the reader of this comment believes in, and hopefully without nuance or introspection. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"Our child Zoomer"

Are you fucking kidding me? Did these people completely miss what it means to be bullied by other children? Did they skip adolescence and living between the ages of 9 and 15 completely? WHY WOULD THEY NAME THEIR CHILD 'Zoomer'?!?!?

We wanted to hold space for the possibility that Zoomer could be intersex, transgender, or non-binary"

None of these things are like the others. Also, did you forget about LGB? Isn't that supposed to be a part of this great awakening and acceptance too? Why didn't you teach "Zoomer" about how there are same-sex couples and they're valid too?

We were committed to protecting them from experiencing sexism in early childhood.

Guess what honey, you don't get to control sexism through your child. Your intention was great and all, but you over-protected "Zoomer" from learning about the real world and appropriate reactions to adult interference. Other people don't subscribe to or believe in your cult, they live life in the real world, and they're going to subject "Zoomer" to gender identification regardless of what you think about it.

You completely eradicated your child's ability to function in a healthy way among everyone else outside of your family. GOOD JOB MOM! (Oops, I mean, gender-non-binary vagina-owning humanistic life form)

Zoomer would most certainly not be the first person to know they're intersex 🤦‍♂️

One of the ways cults control their members is by altering language in order to essentially re-program people and reinforce the group's ideology, as well as to further isolate them. A normal person who has no connection to the LGBT+ world would literally need a dictionary to decipher that mess of a video.

I feel for that kid, I feel deeply for her. Because, honestly, besides being tragically socialized and needing to deal with that for the rest of her life, there are things a woman needs to learn as a woman that can be essential to survival and navigation in the world. She's a lab rat for her attention-starved parents that I would bet have personality disorders.

You should check out Cultish by Amanda Montell. It’s about exactly that.

Lol.

Come on... We knew your child is a girl the moment you said you wanted her to live a life "without sexism." And at 4 years old, she says she's a boy. Funny. Completely unpredictable. Who would have thought.

One of these things is not like the other. I actually laughed out loud when she said that.

Also....Zoomer? I don’t get why some parents have this underlying need to make their kids victims of bullying.

They probably want to star in some television series about bullying or something and are using their kid as an trampoline to fame.

Society needs to go back to shaming parents like these two clowns.
