Oh it's a beautiful book - I bought it at the start of the year & I'm planning on buying another copy as a gift for an old friend.

Proof that not even the most stringent laws against homosexuality can erase homosexuality. Also proof that there is more to love between two men than just anal sex. I’m happy that these couples got to experience moments of love and romance even when legally they were not supposed to. Those were the men who helped paved the way for our rights. Not some crossdresser in New York who was seen as a nuisance by most of the people he knew.

I just woke up, and this confused the fuck out of me. Loving is the last name of an interracial hetero couple (black wife, white husband) who won a court case in the late 60s.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loving_v._Virginia

Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1 (1967), was a landmark civil rights decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that laws banning interracial marriage violate the Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Beginning in 2013, it was cited as precedent in U.S. federal court decisions holding restrictions on same-sex marriage in the United States unconstitutional, including in the 2015 Supreme Court decision Obergefell v. Hodges.

I hate recommending Reddit now, but if you're a fan of old-timey photos (regardless of LGB), spend some time checking out: https://old.reddit.com/r/TheWayWeWere
