Don’t know about Takei specifically. But the gay community has a huge problem with being predatory towards teenage boys (or younger) but that’s a conversation most people aren’t ready for.

I remember on gaybros someone said his first relationship was at 15 with a 50 or 60 years old man and that's was said totally normally lol

While that is a pretty big gap, the plurality of people I know were teenagers on Grindr having sex with people in their mid to early 30s and that was completely ubiquitous.

During my teens (late 90s), this did seem normal. I was 16 when I tried to woo my 50 year old Creative Writing teacher... and she seemed to have feelings for me too (we spent time together, and she was not tutoring me lol). There were two teachers having affairs with students... one was my cousin who is currently married to our math teacher (they are only 7 years apart in age tho). Point is... these "taboo" relationships aren't really that taboo, at least not here in the states.

I would say in the states are much more taboo. Damn, you guys think 16 years old cannot consent lol The age taboo around sex is big there. Here there was a famous movies where a 17 years old girl ended up falling in love with 40 years old man and was popular. There was some discussion about being not appropriate of course, but I'm sure in USA would have been much more controversial. Times ago a female teacher was arrested for trying to seduce a 16 years old girl. I think that of course this kinda of age gap are perverted and can't never lead to an healthy equal relationship.

Yes I do think that.

That's really crazy to me. Massive power differential there because of the age difference... and one is a child.

Well at least we can agree on that, haha.

17 years old are not children. They're teens, almost adult and can consent to sex. Of course a relationship between an adult and a teen who has not yet totally developed cannot be healthy by any means. Someone interested in someone that young is either perverted, abusive or emotionally stunted in search of extreme youth to feel young. The movie was "scusa ma ti chiamo amore", the protagonist was Raul Bova, one of the most beautiful italian man, it was romantic, it was just after a while that I realized how fucked up it was that a divorced adult man ended up with someone who had not ended high school yet .

Almost adult, but still not-- that is, children. We shall have to agree to disagree. :)

Yes, that is my guess as well.
