They say that in Heaven, all of the cops are British. Whoever said that isn’t alive today.

Britain has problems with anti-social behaviour, burglaries, rape, murders and grooming gangs. But no, let’s focus on harassing people who say things that the government doesn’t want them to say. A cousin of mine lives in England, and the local police station has said that it won’t prosecute burglaries, just file reports. Got to focus on all those racists, transphobes and Covid sceptics.

And it all makes sense when you consider that you don't need to be above a certain height, don’t need to be capable of running faster than a certain speed, don’t need to have a high IQ, and you don’t need to be strong in order to become a police officer in the UK. All you need is to go to college and a degree, and then hold a certain ideology. That’s right, you need to go to college to become a police officer in Britain. In Ireland and in most other countries, you just need to go to police academy, which is technically college, but it’s a college that is specific to law enforcement. So now you have a country where the majority of its police officers are physically weak and clueless as to how a healthy society is run. But don’t think that British people haven’t noticed, many of them have lost faith in the police.

So what does a British police station do when the public loses trust in them? More woke shit. Yeah, brilliant. I’m sure I would feel so safe if I lived in the UK, /s. No, the British police force is a joke. In fact, they are worse than useless. They have become a hindrance to the peace, because they’re no protecting criminals and beating protestors. It's much easier for police to harass people who are basically law-abiding citizens than to deal with genuine criminals.

All correct, unfortunately.

What really stuck in my craw about the police was their unequal treatment of protesters during the height of the pandemic in the summer of 2020. People who were protesting against lockdowns were arrested and manhandled, as were women attending a vigil for Sarah Everard (who was herself murdered by a police officer), but when BLM activists filled Trafalgar Square to protest about a murder 4000 miles away the police stood by, took the knee and did nothing.

Since the murder of Stephen Lawrence the police have been terrified of doing anything that might incur the label 'racist', which is why investigations into the grooming gangs and paedophile rings in Rotherham and Rochdale were sat on for decades.

Add to that the introduction of Non-crime hate incidents that leave a black mark against your name in a criminal record check, and you leave British policing in a very sorry state indeed.

The double standards over the Sarah Everard and the George Floyd protests have exposed the police for the fraud institution they have become. They are worse than useless. And those non-crime hate incidents are just part of the poisonous icing on the turd cake. They say that British police officers used to be great, but now they’re just awful. Probably one of the worst police forces in the world right now.

I find it hilarious how the British establishment brags about being a free and open democracy and condemns the governments of Russia, Turkey, Belarus, Hungary, Poland, the United States and Venezuela for being authoritarian, when the UK has non-crime hate incidents and sends the bobbies to beat up protestors like in Belarus or China. British politicians and journalists have lost the right to condemn other countries for not being democratic enough when the UK has now become an authoritarian hellscape. And the police perpetuate this hellscape. Nobody in their right mind respects British police officers.

The other day I talked wth english lesbian who talked about her lesbian friend being raped while she was at her girlfriend male friend, (she doesn't remember anything, she also drug addict, and actually the girlfriend could have something to do with it, as being complicit with probably the friend who raped her). But moral of the story, there was not police report, as she thought they wouldn't do nothing about it It's fucking madness. It really seems Uk has serious crime problem.

It isn't exclusive to the UK, I know such problems are present in Berlin and Madrid. Outside of Europe it is even worse - in USA (remember how Wi Spa was handled?), Canada (how VRR protests were handled?), Japan or post-USSR. And we are not even speaking about middle-east and most of Africa.

British police is pretty useless, but more useful than in most of the world - and this is not saying any good about British police, it is saying that world is fucked.

Sadly, it’s not just the UK police. In France, the Netherlands and Denmark, there were police officers firing water cannons and grenades at their own citizens, the people they had sworn to protect. It was so bad in the Netherlands that there were Dutch soldiers protecting civilians from the police and fighting against the police.

In Ireland, the police aren’t as bad, but they’re still bad, and they were even worse decades ago. Up until the 1970's, if a mother died while their kids were still under 16, the children were kidnapped from their widowed father by the state and held hostage in institutions where they were abused by nuns, priests and monks. And the father had to make an appointment just to see the children he’s raised and the children he would have been well able to raise if the government would have just left him and his family alone. There were also people who were molested by priests who were threatened by the police into silence. The Catholic Church rightfully got condemned by Irish society for these atrocities, but the police officers who protected these paedophiles and kidnapped these children got off scotfree and retired with pensions. Those particular cops should have been shunned by society or at least pressured into giving away their pensions as compensation to the families they’d helped to destroy. Nowadays, Irish police officers are better, but they are still corrupt, and since the pandemic they have been getting nastier and more authoritarian. A policeman once kidnapped a child just to spite the kid's father for criticising the policeman’s handling of the pandemic, and although the child was eventually returned to his father, it is proof that old habits die hard.

Sadly, in a lot of countries, some people become police officers because they were bullied in school, and they want to take their anger and trauma out on civilians who look like the kids who used to bully them. While I sympathise with people who were bullied hard in school, it’s not an excuse for someone to take their anger out on innocent people. People who were bullied and still traumatised from it need to go to therapy if the trauma is still interfering with their work, especially if they are police officers. I also think that police officers should be required to go to martial arts lessons at least once a month, not so that they become stronger, but so that they remember what it’s like to be on the receiving end of a hit and so that it humbles them.

In Italy the police isn't violent, but we have not the amount of violent crimes and gangs problems like Uk, let alone the USA. But what upsets me is a poor girl could get raped and having no justice. Like not even a police report. Just let something so horrible go unpunished.

This is why British people have turned on their police. But this should give you hope for Britain, or at least England, because it shows that English people want their country and their communities to get better. Time will tell, but I get the feeling that a large proportion of English people want to fix their country. And if they succeed, you might get to move there.

Italy seems well run by the standards of a Western European country. Keep it that way. Though I am becoming more interested in the Nordic countries.

Do not, I repeat, DO Not move to Sweden. We have the highest tax rates, crime rate is rising rapidly, you'll never get a job (xenophobia here is insane), and if you have any standards or good work ethics you will be shunned. Any positive spin on Sweden is just that, a hell of a lot of propaganda. This is why when any international media critises Sweden, the government is very quick to respond in defence regarding the "Sweden image". And the police will never be on your side. In fact, just recently a man kidnapped a woman and raped her over several days. He won 80.000€ in compensation for "trauma". And you'll only be protected so long as you're a part of whatever minority is currently trendy: LGB is not. And don't even get me started on the absolute shitshow that is swedish healthcare; it makes the NHS look absolutely amazing.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of Denmark or Finland. Especially Denmark, because they’re kicking out migrants who don’t assimilate. Although Finland rarely gets any migrants, and they require MTFs and FTMs to sterilise themselves.

All of the news agencies here are government ran. So you'll rarely ever read about big problems. On the rare occasion they do publish something, the article disappears very quickly.

Like for example; when COVID-19 was hitting retirement homes very hard, the standard procedure required was to give the patients morphine, open the window, and let them die. This information was leaked to the press, and then quickly disappeared after it was published.

Or the "no go" zones that even international media has spoken about.

North Europe is the most developed and safe part of the world, but the culture can suck. A too introverted population can make integrating quite hard, especially if you want deep relationships, in the case of Germany they also known to be rule and order obsessed as the autistic level and too direct to be point of seeming to lack sensibility. North European countries really don't attract me in term of culture, they lack passion. Uk has its problems, and it isn't nearly as safe as North Europe nor has its quality of life, but the culture and the people is superior, especially to Germany.

The good about Italy is safety because there is less class divide and dangerous zones comparing to Uk, healthcare is great and college is affordable to anyone (some people here go take degree for hobbies lol= and great quality. The bad: the economy because of decades of shitty government who has no invested like Germany, and the euro was actually more convenient to Germany than to Italy, and also some cultural things I don't like.

In introverted, so I guess I could fit in if I lived in Finland or Denmark. Or maybe I would feel more isolated. And yes, Germans are very uptight about rules and regulations. As someone from Ireland, where we tend to be laidback and follow only the spirit of the rules rather than the letter of them, to a point where we actually bend the rules from time to time, living in Germany might be difficult for me.

Italians seem laidback and easygoing, like the Irish. I bet your healthcare system is better than ours as well. You also have nice food, beautiful architecture and better sunshine. Your country is corrupt as hell, but so is Ireland. In fact, given that your country has a more decentralised government where the regions have some degree of power, I’d argue your governance is better than ours, because in Ireland, the provinces and the counties have no power whatsoever, so what our incompetent and apathetic central government says, goes.

I was in Greece two years ago and I loved it. The sunshine was good, the food was delicious, the architecture was stunning and the people were laidback. Plus the Greeks are willing to fight for what they believe in. I’d probably live on the islands, like Mykonos or Santorini.

Well, yeah I'm introverted too but living in a country with extremely introvertted people can easily lead to isolation.Especially if you want deeper friends. In that places people take a lot to open up, they usually just very close to friends they have had since they were young. So you could find yourself isolated, with no close relationships and far from home. Not forget the weather, making it even more depressing. I've suffered a lot for mental health, and Scandinavia just sad place to live for me.

I've read irish healthcare having impossible waiting time, even for urgen stuff. So, yeah, I would say Italy healthcare is better.

I've seen irish people compared to sicilians (the region I'm from) in term of characters. So you guys must to be very warm and friendly. And I think irish/Uk culture is less superficial, italian culture can be very superficial, with impossible beauty standars. Even Germany is more relaxed in beauty standards and women tend to care less about having high-end style/look as the culture sexualize women less. Also italian culture is just more backward/conservative/provencial.

Without these cultural problems and a better more flexible job market it could be best country, but no country is perfect.

If you go to Germany, focus on Berlin or Cologne, with more open/less german-like people, in particular Cologne with is roman roots is known to have the most friendly people. Belgium is interesting too, the french part, but don't think people are particulary more friendly

Americans of Irish descent are often compared with Americans of Italian descent, and I’ve also heard that most Americans of Italian descent come from southern Italy. It wouldn’t surprise me if Sicilian behaviours are similar to Irish behaviours. Unfortunately, Irish people have become more shallow and atomised due to high increases in consumerism and materialism. If you want to experience authentic Irish culture, avoid Dublin and its commuter towns, and visit the west, the south and the northeast of the country. Rural areas and small towns tend to be truer towards Irish culture.

I’d love to visit Italy. But I’m guessing that some parts of Italy are more authentic than others. But Greece is still my favourite country I’ve visited so far and would be the type of country I’d retire to.

Yeah, we got like you a long history of immigration for economical reasons, in the north Italy,and in the first part of the 20th century, also in USA. You're right, most american italians are from the south of Italy. Madonna just celebrated her birthday in Puglia which is where her family had its roots.

I would like to visit Greece too. To see where Sappho lived. To me the best European country is Spain. I'm just crazy for spanish language, so hot, so passionate language and culture. Also spanish people are very similar to sicilians, we got also Spain in our genetics, and overall better version of italians, more progressive, less uptight and arrogant, and all the great things that make life great, passionate friendly people, great weather and food and natural beauty. The bad thing is their economy just sucks, worst than Italy
