Shupe is fascinating because he went back to ID'ing as male and was not at all happy about the process. "...petition filed by Shupe described the sex designation of non-binary as 'psychologically harmful legal fiction.'" and "He said that his original motivation for transition was autogynephilia and that he was experiencing symptoms of psychosis when he sought a non-binary sex marker."

Queer Theory backbone: Butler, etc. What they and Money have in common is social construction. Some things are of course socially constructed, but some people think that more things can be explained by social construction than the reality. Some people go so far as to say everything is socially constructed. These are usually people with a prior activist agenda, because social construction can't stand in the way of an activist agenda, where essentialism can.

Tangential actors, like Gayle Rubin. People more directly involved like Leslie Feinberg.

All this stuff takes a lot of time to unwind and (try to) come up with a genealogy of. It could probably be a life's work. The role that the feminisms played, etc.

I think some of them think that because words are social constructions, the things they refer to are as well.

Yes, but they take that and run away with it.

In a certain way, Gender Ideology goes back to the theory of "inversion" that described being a woman trapped in a man's body or vice-versa. This, of course, was a roundabout way of preserving heterosexuality by marking any man attracted to other men as a woman. Because, of course, to be attracted to men makes you a woman.

Someone else has mentioned Judith Butler, who's a major player, but I think one figure who doesn't get mentioned that much is Riki Wilchins, a trans woman who took Gender/Queer Theory and popularized it by publishing more accessible books. Wilchins also has/had a big career in tech and was responsible for pushing a pro-trans agenda across the tech industry.

It bothers me to no end that trans ideology is basically just old school homophobia with woke dressing on top and no one seems to realize this or talk about it.

All I know is... straight white men over 40 are responsible for this queer bullshit. They came up with a scheme to become a marginalized group after three major movements (civil rights, women's rights, gay rights) ended. Straight white men needed a way to rise up as the most oppressed demographic and became transgender women.

Arnold Lowman aka Virginia Prince, an old ass straight white man, was the father of the perverted trans movement.

GDAlliance did an interview with Shute just a short while ago. I encourage anybody to watch it:

That was difficult to watch but well worth the discomfort to see the guy maintain an absolute spine of steel while his hecklers can only answer with meaningless epithets. Maybe it's because I was reminded of the Evergreen College debacle but I had a feeling that this must have taken place in Oregon and sure enough, according to this upload it happened at the Eugene Public Library in 2018. Oregon really seems to be at the vanguard of woke totalitarianism in the US.

Gender ideology or Gender Critical Theory is an offshoot of Critical Theory,a pseudophilosophical movement born in Europe in 20th century. That pseudophilosophy ( I call it pseudo because it's goal is not the truth but power) does not accept that there is a thing such as truth and asserts that truth is subjective, mainly a social construct. Some American feminists like Judith Battler were inspired by this bullshit and applied it to sex and gender.
