It has a very '' our culture is superior to yours because we accept the gays when it's convenient for us '' kind of feeling. Obviously any culture accepting of homosexuality is superior than those who don't in my eyes, but in these types of situations it all feels like we are being weaponized and used (as a shield) in order to advance a political agenda that often doesn't even have anything to do with LGB.

That's a good point. And such a claim is often at odds with what is actually happening at home in the country claiming it.
