Since this post doesn't specifically pertain to LGB concerns or dropping-the-T, this kind of question wouldn't normally be allowed unless it's the Sunday Social. Us mods do think it's important that users understand the platform we're on, so I'm making an exception. In the future, please send a message to mods before posting off-topic questions so we can pre-approve.

We do have a Wiki page set up as an introduction for new SaidIt users, and if anyone has suggestions, let us know! https://saidit.net/s/LGBDropTheT/wiki/saidittips

You can reply to my comment, but in all honesty, I might not see it right away. The best way to reach all of us is through ModMail: https://saidit.net/message/compose?to=LGBDropTheT

No. Too much extreme right wing bs on here. I only use this sub and /s/lesbians

Nope, although I do try to keep up with what's going on with the admins... that's how I found out one admin is/was an 18 year old trans-chick. Smfh it's very important to know who (personal information) is behind the scenes, admins and mods, banning folks. I don't trust an all-male team, although women have proven to be just as damn foolish. 😄

To keep everyone in the loop, the trans-identified male Admin has resigned from being an Admin and is just a regular user now.

This sounds like a Zionist // Bill Gates psy-op to get people to leave LGBDropTheT and vaccinate their kids. Did you know autism didn't exist in Vietnam until Bill Gates rolled out his vaccines there?

Trust the plan.

Saidit's so small it seems like it's just us and the political stuff. I've looked at s/politics and it's not very interesting, there are a lot better dissident discussions going on on other platforms. The average user over there seems pretty homophobic - ironic it's just us and them on the site.

I love the eccentric community on Saidit, it's mostly nerdy tech guys but it would be wouldn't it? They're a wealth of knowledge on a variety of topics and there's a wider range of opinions than you would normally see on the modern internet. s/internet is the best sub, imo. So many cool tools and tricks of the trade.

This whole site has a 90s alternative bookstore vibe to it that I love.

The one exception is the anti-Semitic trolls who are constantly shitting everywhere. They ride my last nerve but I think the admins are doing a good job of letting them vent without letting them prevent good content from being posted.

I would encourage everyone to read s/politics, if only to keep up with the full spectrum of political news that gets reported. I think a lot of you don't realize how out of the loop mainstream news actually leaves you.

There are really many nazis on this site, I was shocked to read such opinions, antisemitism isn't something you see anywhere else but that's reminds you that nazis still exist

[–]PatsyStoneMaverique 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

They get chased off of every site they try to post on, they even get banned on Republican/ conservative sites. This one won't ban them so they go crazy.

[–]Elvira95Viva la figa 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I'm not against free speech, even though some opinions are disgusting.

[–]PatsyStoneMaverique 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Banning often backfires anyway (as we all know here!) it can make them feel vindicated.

Better to keep them a little contained and let them have their say. When it seems like it might go somewhere, try to talk them through why they're wrong. It works better in the long run.

Whenever I'm online, after doing mod stuff, I do go to s/all and see if there's anything that seems interesting to participate in.

I mainly have a few key subs I follow and subscribe to that I check out, and then just browse the rest to see what's happening and if I can contribute anything that may not have already been talked about. SaidIt is still a pretty small site, and doesn't have quite the variety of subs/topics that Reddit does, so I don't comment often. Mostly just read and upvote/fun what other people are sharing.

[–]usehername[S] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

Ever touch s/politics ?

[–][deleted] 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

I've read the sub(s) but don't recall ever participating, even on Reddit.

I like to read, but typically don't like engaging in broad-spectrum subs where there are arguments/debates about which side is best. In my view, nothing gets accomplished except everyone just sperging out on each other so they can make themselves feel better and righteous about their opinions.

I live in the USA though, and I'm sure that's also clouded my opinion of debate/conversation.

[–]lovelyspearmintLesbeing a lesbian 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

Please don't use 'sperging', if you can help it.

[–]reluctant_commenter 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

How come? I have never heard this word before, just curious.

[–]lovelyspearmintLesbeing a lesbian 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Heres the definition:

"To rant with great anger or intensity about pointless minutiae, as someone with an asperger's-related fixation is prone to do."

While I can see why they used it, it doesn't change the fact that it's a derogatory term towards autistic people like myself. Just like I wouldn't call someone's behaviour 'f*ggy' or call someone a 'homo', the same respect should be shown to others. There's other ways to say that someone is ranting about minutiae.

[–]reluctant_commenter 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Ahhh, okay. Thank you for explaining! I did not think to relate it to the similar spelling of aspergers.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

You're right, and I'm sorry if I did cause hurt or offense to you or anyone else here. I said it without thinking, and that wasn't cool.

Just gender critical but I still use Reddit so I haven’t looked around said it. Some of you commented on the homophobia you encountered. That’s good to see so ypeiple don’t think bigotry is over. Left or right scratch the surface and you can see it underneath. How many supposed leftist allies are pushing the tra anti gay stuff on us now?

[–]Elvira95Viva la figa 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (8 children)

I just read your question about homosexuality on r/politics. Oh the answers lol

[–]hufflepuff-poet 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

Yeah scrolled through for a few minutes, that was enough of the rest of Saidit for me.

Now having kids is my duty to my race and nation?! So dumb, how bout my nation does it's duty and provides a state where parents don't have to work two jobs just to support their kids and where all the kids are garaunteed a quality education and food before we start demanding people become "birthing factories for the State". People come up with some truly wild reasons for why they hate homosexuals, just be honest, gay sex makes you uncomfortable cus you're straight, I get it, straight sex makes me uncomfortable too as a gay person. 🙄

[–]PatsyStoneMaverique 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

She posed that question specifically to people who hate gays. Shock of all wonders she got hateful responses. It was what she wanted.

[–]reluctant_commenter 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

It was what she wanted.

Is it...? I didn't see her say that anywhere.

[–]usehername[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Maybe I was naive.

The answers are extremely insane and ignorant.

edit: And no I didn't "want hateful responses", I wanted to understand their POV and see the source of their visceral disgust.

[–]PatsyStoneMaverique 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

My interpretation of what the goal of asking "People who think being gay is wrong and/or disgusting, why?" is.

The thing I was surprised by is that none of the people who answered denied being prejudiced or bigoted. That's always a hallmark of prejudiced people, they deny it then immediately go on to explain why they're right to be prejudiced. At least in my experience.

[–]reluctant_commenter 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I know what you're talking about. I think there are subgroups within prejudiced people, though, I've seen both kinds. I think the "deny-my-prejudice" group is probably more motivated by social status politics and whatnot, and that leads them to lie about it.

I don’t go on other subs here because they’re either too small or two spergy. But whatever.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Sometimes but the place is filled with crazies and shills. I see a lot of people saying that they are right wing but I disagree. They are crazy people people. Also, the nazi's were left wing.

[–]emptiedriver 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

i get a little depressed looking at other subs here most of the time, feeling like, wow are ideas as simple as "sex is real" now considered conspiracy theories? And then I start thinking, oh geez, are these other ideas not as wacky as I think they are... and look around for a minute, and usually come back to, nope, they are. Kind of a weird trip. It's not bad to test your boundaries a little bit (though in some cases it can just feel gross or like a waste of time).

All to say - I mostly stick to the gender critical stuff.

[–]reluctant_commenter 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

No, almost never. Only occasionally I have, just to keep up with what's going on with admins. I've browsed a few subs out of curiosity but mostly they are a) empty and/or b) extremely right wing. Not much to interest me. And the anti-semitism on this site seems rampant...

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Not particularly it just seems like a lot of political sperging and while it's ironic considering the sub I am on I can only engage in that so often. Honestly outside of a few hobbies I like talking about I rarely talk that much on social media anymore. I only joined this sub because I wanted to demonstrate not everyone with an AGP fetish is insane nor even considered or wanted to transition.

[–]MarkJeffersonTight defenses and we draw the line 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Occasionally; I check out some of my subbed places for new posts. I also go on Reddit unironically ever so often. I was demographically insular and in a political bubble for most of my voting life and one of the things it got me was eventually accepting stuff like Trans without much skepticism, because it was "progressive", supporting people/things the LGB apparently supported(even though I didn't understand it at all), and sticking it to the cons.

I developed some useful critical thinking skills over the years so I'm not too worried about Saidit's more naughty extremist influences. Which is why I can now read all manner of religious scripture and ideological manifestos for entertainment(have you heard of the diyu?).

In general though, this site is not remotely big enough to scratch my itch for varied viewpoints. I usually need to reach far beyond into some very controversial places.
