Normal LGB people are not proponents of thought policing. This is not something we want to be associated with.

How the fuck is this real?

Imagine going to jail for things you say on the internet. That’s reality over there.

It's probably easier for the cops to virtue signal and do a twitter search and say, look, we're cracking down on crime! Than to solve actual crimes, which takes effort to do. Pure insanity. Imagine if they tried this shit in America.

I heard that since Tony Blair was in office you had to have a college degree to become a police officer. Apparently, you don’t need to have a certain amount of physical strength or be capable to run fast in order to become a cop anymore.

I heard in Uk there is no height limit to be a cop. In Italy no woman under 5'4 can be a cop. For men is higher. I like that they don't restrict for height like that, it should be kinda seen individually.

I support the height requirements, because even if a 5’3 man was the strongest in the world, he would still struggle if trying to arrest a man significantly taller than him and who is resisting arrest, and he would also have a more limited reach. Being short is also a disadvantage in a fight regardless of your height.

Of course, given how British police officers are going after people for thought crimes, I unironically support the lack of height requirements for British cops. If I was in England and I said something truthful about transgender people, I would prefer if the cop who came to my door was 4'11. He would not be able to force me to do anything.

A cop is armed though, they don't need to use brute force, when they got a gun. Someone with a gun can force you to do anything, regardless of height, not to talk about the authority and power of being a police officer to force people to follow orders.. And although height is certainly a disadvantage in fight, there are techniques that that makes it less so and allow you to overpower someone bigger. Remind of this thread I saw when people in the police talked about pretty short women handling situation just right:https://www.reddit.com/r/policeuk/comments/l47ork/can_a_small_female_make_a_good_police_officer/

I thought height was an automatic disqualifier for that kinda of position and it can be the wrong thought.

Fair enough. However, British cops don’t carry guns with them, so a British cop being short would have a harder time than a Hungarian or an Italian cop who’s short.

But they should carry electric gun or something? Like USA police is all about gun, it's crazy how easily the can shoot people and not fair at all, in my country a police officer can't go around shooting people like that. Brute force is rarely used. But in USA context, I think height for a police officer matters zero, since they can go around shooting at the first problem lol Do not about Uk, but a police officer should have weapon to protect themselves. Also the police is not just going around taking crimical, there is the mental part, like being a detective .

I know some American police departments might require some amount of college credits in criminal justice, not all, but at the very least, you still have to pass a physical fitness test and be in good health physical and mental condition to work at any of them, is that not the same for the UK? I wonder what their academies are like there

I agree that cops should meet fitness requirements. I don’t know the laws in my country, but police officers in Ireland have to go to Garda College (Irish police academy) and pass it before they can become cops. I presume we have fitness and height requirements. But Irish cops have become more tyrannical since the pandemic started and they selectively enforce the COVID restrictions.

It’s already happening. I saw a video of a group of British cops surrounding an elderly gay man and condemning him for criticising trans people.

Which is extremely fitting in times like this.

Can this be used to our advantage? I mean plenty of trans people are openly homophobic? We could report them as well and watch the screech like banshees when their own beast bites them in their plastic behinds.

Nah, British cops believe in intersectionality. They see trans people as more oppressed than gay people.

Thought crimes? Seriously? If you don’t like somebody’s opinion, you have three valid options: debate the person, leave the person alone or simply agree to disagree with the person. There will always be at least one person who hates a group of people, because hate, ignorance, bad experiences and a lack of good experiences are real things people go through. What the police are doing is not only a waste of time, effort and tax-payers’ money, it is also counterproductive. If you are going to get arrested just for criticising the actions of a certain group, this will only make you hate that particular group even more. The reason the U.K. went from an extremely homophobic country to one of the most gay friendly countries in the world is because gay people wanted to be left alone and fought for their right to be left lone. But now that a lot of liberal gay activists are harassing people and refusing to leave other people alone, support for gay rights is going to decline across the western world.

On top of all that, these thought-policing actions of the police are taking away resources that could be used to arrest rapists, murderers, thieves, vandals, human traffickers and thugs, resources that could be used to find missing persons and help people who are lost, resources that could be used to keep communities peaceful. But instead, British police officers have become a joke. Almost nobody in the U.K. respects police officers anymore, except for smoothbrains who read newspapers like the Guardian or watch cable television news programmes like Sky News. When British cops are not harassing people for having independent thoughts or walking in the streets, they are twerking in front of cross dressers at pride parades or dancing to grime music. It’s pathetic.

It's easier for the police to target harmless people who say something unpopular than it is for them to deal with actual violent/dangerous criminals, so which do you think they will choose, given a choice?

I saw this when I lived in California. Police would harass people over minor traffic issues, but when I reported a truly dangerous guy who moved into the apartment next to ours and who was selling drugs out the door, they did nothing. (The landlord was eventually able to evict him.) In addition to selling drugs, this guy would routinely beat the shit out of his wife, and then she'd lie to police when we called them.

Yep. In some US states, cops are nothing more than road pirates who harass motorists. And they wonder why support for law enforcement is so low.

What a clown of a car, its fucking embarrassing being associated with this, this kinda shit doesn't make me proud to be gay at all...there's other ways to support lgb people y'know, but I guess they think suppressing speech and thought crime was the best way to do it?? Really??
