Wow. Just wow. I would say this is a positive, though: at least the TQ+ movement is starting to show their true colors! "LGBTQ+" was never about the LGB. Let's be honest about that.

Isn't that always the case with umbrella terms? Once you collectivize, you lose any right to disagree with a single stance of the group as a whole. Before long, the loudest and generally angriest people are the ones running the show. Then it's, "They're not REALLY one of us. If so, they would toe the line we've drawn for them". Followed closely by, "repeat after me or get the fuck out".

Gotta admit, my fellow gay men are experts at not giving a fuck. In a bad way- look how all LGBT organizations have been captured by the QUUEEER and TRAAANS interest groups. You think a young Manhattan or Brooklyn gay cares? Of course not, hedonism is a BIG part of who we are and that can be regrettable. Who's steering the ship we created, who's minding it? Not gay people, we are HIJACKED by the T, people demanding medical experiments on gay or gender non-conforming kids and no one gives a fuck.

Same thing with white women. They give negative fucks about the current war of masculinity because it's not aimed at them. It doesn't directly affect them.

I just tell people that they'll care when it's their shit being co-opted. When it's their back against the wall. When they have no means of escape from the propaganda. But it'll probably be too late by then.

It's true that ignorance is bliss. It's also very true that once they see what's behind the curtain they can't unsee it. Sometimes you gotta peel their eyes open and demonstrate the train bearing down on them.

Isn't that always the case with umbrella terms?

I think this effect you're describing is always at play in some form or another (though maybe less of a problem in some groups vs. others), it's one of the most persistent tensions that any umbrella group has to deal with. But many people don't stop to think about it, apply their critical thinking skills... When people stick to a surface level understanding of "Inclusivity is good!" even if they have good intentions, they miss that point.

Unfortunately, the LGBTQ+ umbrella does not seem to want to let us out, lol. That is the real trouble. Save for a few of them like in this post. Hopefully the "ditch the LGB" sentiment catches on among TQ+ supporters... we are WAY better off not a part of this umbrella.
