Am I missing something? This seems totally fine. These appear to be their school uniform skirts anyway.

Edit: A couple boys have the school's name on their sweatshirts. It's a private high school in Montreal. I google image searched and the girls do, indeed, wear grey skirts and skorts.

Agreed. In fact, there was an article years ago that mentioned boys in the U.K did this because it was so hot. Girls apparently have the option to wear skirts or shorts but boys apparently at this school only had the option to wear pants, so they went to school one day in skirts.

We had some boys pull something similar at my high school, but with eyeliner. It was only allowed for girls at the time, but our goth and emo brothers rose up in defiance ✊

They got a lot of other guys to wear eyeliner for a couple of days before the administration relented and agreed to stop enforcing that part of the dress code. They replaced the eyeliner rule with a "no distracting makeup" rule that got some of those same goth boys in trouble later. Your eyeliner couldn't be noticable, no drawing on your face, or unnatural colors.

They're not doing it to fight gender norms, but whatever. If they want to throw Fox News a cultural Marxism softball by wearing these ghastly utilitarian standard-issue Eastern Bloc skirts, more power to them.

Notice how they’re all wearing short skirts and exposing their legs?

But...that's how our skirts are in America, well, Texas. Parents can get them longer but of course, most of the girls would go for the skirts that were three inches above the knees. In fact, these don't look like skirts but skorts=skirt plus shorts.

You read my mind! No private school would ever allow skirts this short unless they were skorts.

I haven’t looked into what motivated this so if anyone knows, feel free to share.

However, this is a perfect example of what makes gender ideology activism so frustrating. It’s easy to point to this as about supporting gender non-conformity when it might have also been initiated by a sexual fetishist for cover. And if that were true and you knew that to be the case, you would look insane and like an asshole for pointing it out. But it could also be part of something more wholesome too that runs counter to gender ideology. Like showing that boys are still boys when they wear skirts and still should be treated as such.

Now in our current sociopolitical climate in which gender nonsense has taken ahold of everything, people will look into this and see whatever suits their narrative even if the truth were glaringly obviously something else and there was proof of that.

I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing, strict gender roles aren't good and you can look at any country east of Western Europe as an example of that. But the thing is gender stereotypes should be challenged not human sex characteristics, what I mean is gender roles shouldn't be too strict while maintaining the fact that there are only two sexes. Gender cultists have made it impossible to actually challenge gender roles without the possibility of getting involved in transgenderism. Men can wear skirts but that doesn't make them women. Genderist ideology is what makes it difficult to be gender non-conforming. However, since it was posted in r/tttt, this definitely fuels the genderist ideology than abolishing strict gender roles

Whoa that got racist really fast.

As someone who has family in Eastern Europe, I kinda agree that gender roles are extremely strict, especially when the country (Serbia in this case) is highly religious and traditional. Can't speak for the rest of non-Western Europe, but family friends from neighbouring countries are about the same in regards to gender roles and responsibilities.

First of all, western europe is a hotbed of racism, islamophobia and white supremacy, I don't know why anyone is holding it up as some kind of shining example of tolerance. Anders Brevik certainly didn't show any. Second, the entire world is east of western europe. So, like I said, that got racist real fast.

I don't get how this is racism. Race has nothing to do with the earlier poster's statement. They were just saying that outside of Western Europe, countries tend to be more conservative and restrictive when it comes to gender, which is the reality of the situation, regardless of the ethnic or racial background these people have. You don't agree with this statement?

[–]Chipit 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It was a smear, plain and simple. I don't get how it's so hard to spot the clear racism. So many countries are east of Europe and most of them aren't white.

Well I suppose if you want to look dumpy go for it but don't pretend you are doing women a favor. We just want to wear what we want (dress or pants) without anybody giving us shit. So ya know, little boys wearing skirts doesn't matter. At fucking all.
