Yes, some men don’t take "no" for an answer, because society doesn’t teach people that "no" is a complete sentence anymore. Some men can never truly understand what it’s like to be a woman until they go into a gay male bar, because some gay men and some bisexual men don’t take "no" for an answer either.

The informed lesbian trope angers me as well. I’ve never watched The Kids Are Alright, nor have I any intention of doing so, but I have heard that one of the wives sleeps with the man while calling herself a lesbian. What was the point in doing that? What were the writers thinking? Another show, the American version of Skins, has the main character, a male, go out with a lesbian, who’s not bisexual but "confused". Thankfully, this move angered enough viewers to get the show cancelled. There are also gay male characters in the media who have sex with female characters, like in Bob and Rose and Six Feet Under, which is also dumb. If you’re going to have a bisexual character on a show a or a movie, acknowledge that the character is bisexual and stop pretending that the character is gay, lesbian or straight.

Cases of women who aren’t homosexual going around calling themselves homosexual have lead me to realise that sometimes gatekeeping is a good thing.
