Well...are these people actually Jewish? And if so how is it a hate crime to say it?

I suspect that it's a case of Jewish people in the west tending to be political/social liberals, and therefore-- like most liberals these days-- automatically supporting "trans". Same goes for women, probably, as well as any other group that skews "progressive".

I'm betting that ultra-Orthodox (i.e., religious fundamentalist) Jews, by contrast, have very low rates of trans-support (unless they see it as a way of "transing away the gay" and/or enforcing gender roles).

They are not liberal. Israel is right-wing as fuck. They are literally an alt-right ethnostate that practices apartheid.

Oh, no argument there; but that's why I made the distinction about being in the west. Israel is a very different culture. Religious fanatics (Zionists and the ultra-Orthodox) are a powerful force there, along with Jewish Russians who, while atheist, escaped the USSR and are hella right-wing as a result.

Basically, Jewish culture in the west is largely the result of Reform Judaism (which facilitated assimilation into Gentile society); Israel is a return to pre-Reform Judaism, with a heavy dose of 19th century nationalism (facilitating the opposite: as you observed, an ethnostate).
