I can't...I just can't imagine the thought process that went into this. Someone had to write these lyrics. MULTIPLE people had to read them, and nobody caught on and noticed that this was 100% NOT the message to send??

They have, obviously, since deleted the video, but people were naturally quick to save and upload it so they can't hide their shame.

"trolling" like this is only acceptable when you're in a position of power. These imbeciles have no idea what it's like for gay people outside of san francisco. San Francisco is almost basically the global earth headquarters for gays and lesbians.

There's just something borderline narcissistic about imbeciles who dont understand what it's like outside their bubbles. So, these people aren't plotting, theyre not strategizing, theyre not planning. Theyre not doing anything. They just think their incredibly small area of the planet; their shitty little neighbourhood is safe and have no idea what it's like outside of the gayest city on earth? So they just stand there like idiots thinking progress will just fall into place and that it's inevitable.

It's not that theyre annoying because they dont know how this will be used against them. It's the "trolling" part where they dont take into account the other gay kids in mississippi or alabama or eastern europe. They dont act according to the best interests of their community because their understanding of their community is 200 people within their small neighbourhood.

    In their response, they predictably blamed the far-right conservative media for taking it out of context. They've taken the video down and stated they are actively working to "control the narrative". Guys, I think that ship has sailed.

    Of course it's not them that made this terrible, terrible decision - of course it's the far-right that's to blame for taking this TOTALLY tongue-in-cheek song for something it's not.

    While I do agree that the homophobic crowd took this and ran with it, I'm also seeing it questioned and criticized in places on the internet that are far more centrist or even left-leaning. Outside of the extremes, the normies appear overwhelmingly not pleased.

    Unfortunately, I think several years of trans-insanity has really upset a lot of the regular population and people have been pushed a bit further to the edge of not being quite as accepting as they have been. And also, it was a terrible, terrible idea to target the children in this song, even...jokingly. People that might not care much or even be supportive otherwise are having a hard time with that.

    For me, the biggest absurdity is that nowadays the LGB is unfortunately always paired with the TQ+ crap...and they ARE trying to fuck ( with ) kids. That's the thing. Trans-kids, MAPs, there's a disturbing rise of pro-pedo narrative bandying around the internet and the alphabet people and something like this, regardless of the tongue-in-cheek nature, had no chance not to implode and catch everyone in the blast radius regardless of their connections to it.

Not only in regards to their knowledge about the world, but often in regards to the suffering LGB people are going on elsewhere in their own fucking country! I live in a liberal area (in the US) and literally every time I've heard a "LGBTQ+" person I've met here mention "gay rights," they always say something like, "Oh gay rights aren't an issue any more." Takes all I have to not let my eyes roll out of my sockets and escape, lol.

    I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, perhaps the makers of this video are naive. Perhaps they think that because the mainstream media likes to talk about Trans Rights(TM), that homophobia has gone extinct. Perhaps they think, "Oh, everyone will know this was a joke! Because clearly, the LGBTQ+ movement is not a danger to children." Unfortunately, the LGBTQ+ movement is a danger to children because it's herding children into a pipeline of lifetime medicalization and untold side effects from puberty blockers that sterilize you and permanent surgeries that remove healthy organs.

    Even if they're naive, I'm still livid at their stupidity and at the damage they've done. If they think it's so funny to joke about performing conversion therapy on children, they are fucking assholes and they should talk to a gay person who's actually been through conversion therapy. The act of making this video is beyond tone-deaf and callous, for so many reasons.

    They apparently made the original video public again, so I guess they think it's just fine. There's a statement on the website.

    I totally get the tongue-in-cheek nature of the song, but wow is it ever naïve to think everyone will read it that way. These people may live in their San Francisco bubble and think they can just not care about whoever doesn't get the joke, but what they don't account for is the number of people who will take them seriously.

    So, it turns out a few of them have sex offenses. So then, when someone looks into it and finds that some of the members were convicted for lewd behaviour with a minor, what reaction did they think they would get? And How do they think that paints every other gay person by association?
