This is clearly meant to be facetious, but they did not account for how many people would take it literally. And now gay people have to pay the price for this fun little stunt.

It took way too long to reach this comment.

It's already being used by anti-gay commentators as "evidence" of the legendary slippery slope. And it's not like they don't have lots of other material to back up their claims. And the problem is that in the case of TRAs and the industry that's grown around them, they really ARE coming for the kids.

But, outside of a fringe minority, how many people care though?

The ones who push shit like this use to be highly partisan, culture war obsessed, outrage clickbait shit.

They are just being used as fuel for the people who are already homophobic justify their beliefs.

Nothing more, nothing else.

From what I've been seeing online, a lot of people outside of the regular homophobic crowd are not taking well to this at all.

But this is to be expected, in the same way people complain about nudity and sex on Pride every year.

The politicization of this in an effort to paint gay men and gay rights as pedo adjacent, on the other hand, is very fringe.

is very fringe.

Is it though? I've been seeing it in places I wouldn't necessarily expect, outside of the usual far-right haunts.

Unfortunately I don't think progress is a straight line, and acceptance for LGBT such as it is, is far from solidified. I can easily see it sliding backwards again if things like this continue.

The message from the LGBT+ crowd has changed. It's no longer "we're not weirdos or predators, we just want to be like everyone else". It has become threatening, even violent (note the TRAs attacking women, and men in women's sports), and focused mostly on not only trans issues but also on transing the children. It's not about equal rights, it's about special privileges and treatment, and that has been a main reason I've distanced myself from the "community" in the past 2 years.

This does not bode well at all for us. Gay people in bubbles in liberal cities have no idea, sometimes intentionally, of what else is going on in the world. Symptomatic of this is the utter bewilderment and shock when Trump actually won the Presidency in 2016 - all the signs and reasons were there, but people chose not to acknowledge it.

I think maybe 10 years ago we could poke fun at the idea that we had a secret agenda to indoctrinate children. It was a ludicrous accusation with no basis in reality. Things have changed significantly since then. Now we have major gay organizations supporting puberty blockers, drag queen story hour, Blue's Clues pride parade, drag kids, and teenage girls showing off their mastectomy scars on reddit.

We can't joke around about a sinister plot to convert straight kids anymore because now there's some truth to it. Straight kids actually are being indoctrinated into a weird gender religion that treats gay as a socially constructed lifestyle that anyone can self-id into.

If you think about it, it's kind of contradictory how these types take this shit of "we are going for your children" as evidence of a secret agenda.

Like, I believe a secret cabal to turn all children gay would know how to not reveal their evil plan to the world in a shitty YouTube video, but that's just me.

Now we have major gay organizations supporting puberty blockers, drag queen story hour, Blue's Clues pride parade, drag kids, and teenage girls showing off their mastectomy scars on reddit.

These organizations are just following the money.

Professional activists need a income source after all.

The ironic thing is how most people involved in said evil plan are straight as well.

People tend to forget that AGPs are straight men with a fetish, for some reason*.

*We know exactly why this is the case, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, shall we?

People also tend to conflate gay with gender woo woo, or people use gay as shorthand for 'sexual and gender minorities'. I used to have a friend who was getting into gender identity politics, and she used to tell her parents she was gay even though she was not really interested in anyone, simply because it was easier to explain. She said this to me, a lesbian, who had told her time and time again how much it bothers me that people use the wrong labels for their own convenience (bisexual women using lesbian, etc).

If it was meant to be facetious, they did a terrible job of it. I can see how so many people took it seriously.
