Asexual, arosexual, aflux ... "an Aspec micro-label" ...

  • I don't look at someone and want sex or a relationship. No birds sing in my head, no angel rays...
  • Just because you don't experience sexual attraction doesn't mean you don't experience sexual desire or arousal
  • There are some Aces who enjoy sex

WHAT IN THE HELL DO YOU IDIOTS THINK SEXUAL ATTRACTION MEANS

"Sexuality and romantic orientation are fluid". Well then why even label yourself if it's so fluid and can change? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

"People on the Aromantic spectrum may not even want a life partner, friendship is the most important thing". Ummm .. the words "romantic" and "life" don't apply then, you're literally talking about friends. Everyone has them. Wow.

Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, even straights... apparently we just don't get it, friendship/comradery is obvs the last thing we're concerned about. We're all just here for the fucking, intimacy is not required. These other micro-labels are the real legit ones.

Jesus Christ, people need to get a grip on themselves. Try a dose of psychology and supportive mental health, and realize that boundaries are COMPLETELY NORMAL AND HEALTHY. Having sex isn't a requirement to be intimate with another person, and it's not an identity crisis to understand that. It's actually very normal to be able to be close to other people without fucking them. No special gold stars or labels are required.

It's just another way to paint gays and lesbians as sex-obsessed deviants. Not into one-night stands? You're demisexual. Don't want to fuck everyone you look at? You're part of the asexual spectrum. Like having friends? Also asexual.

Those homos? Always thinking about sex. They don't have friends. They don't understand human emotions like love. They only have that passé, Manichean worldview of 'people I have already fucked' and 'people I have yet to fuck'.

/s, obviously.

These whole "asexuality spectrum" and "aromantic spectrum" myths have destroyed the credibility of the asexual movement. Asexuality is supposed to mean the absence of sexual attraction, but if there’s a spectrum then it means that there is a degree of sexual attraction.

You’re on to something about people being on the "asexuality/aromantic spectrum" being clueless about friendship not involving sex or romance. I bet these people are surrounded by cumbrains who want to have sex all the time, and these "asexuals" are so used to it that they think that they themselves are the problem. Well, some of them have a problem, and it’s called attention-seeking behaviour.

I think you're dead on. They're in such toxic environments they think being normal, or even conservative about sex, is some sort of genetic predisposition that handicaps them in life.

I will always believe that teenage asexuals are likely to be closeted LGB- personal experience has shown me this too many times. It's a good shield in homophobic liberal spaces.

I told myself I was asexual whenever I failed to find women attractive when I was going through puberty.

Abigail Shrier has written about girls' exposure to pornography being a driving force in identifying out of womanhood. Angus Fox did a series for Quillette on young males transitioning which explored the relationship between pornography and gender identity. I think most older generations don't appreciate the degree to which young people are exposed to violent pornography and hypersexualized representations of 'gender'. Hell, I can't even check the weather on my phone anymore without getting some porny ad. Also, don't forget you can't 'kink-shame' anyone, ever.

I think 'asexuality' is being used as a bulwark by these kids to protect themselves from the people who insist on normalizing hypersexual behaviours and violating boundaries.

The prevalence of and the ease of access to pornography has done a lot of untold damage to our youths.

  1. I’m not really sure why anyone thinks anyone should seriously consider the opinions of a grown woman with a cardboard cutout of Draco Malfoy in her bedroom.
  2. This entire video could be summed up as “words have no meaning but I’m very special.”
  3. I don’t know what I love more—the top reply being from a man angry that there’s no subtitles or the second reply being from a man insisting she get medical help.

Oh my god lol, I missed that at first. Sitting here laughing at the whole thing now.

Asexuals do have sex

Well then they’re not asexual.

I used to be adamant that asexuals exist, but now I’m convinced that they’re made up. Maybe I’m wrong, but Pink News has certainly failed to prove me wrong.

The only "asexuals" I've met are people who've gone through trauma or are in clear need of counseling for personal issues. It's not that they don't have sexual interests; it's that they're so bad at human interactions that they withdraw from them and label themselves as too special to need physical contact.

They're not asexual. They're just not terribly interested in having sex frequently, sometimes due to underlying stuff that could benefit from counseling, and sometimes just because they're not that into sex.

Yep. I’ve never met an asexual person, but I have spoken to one online and a friend of mine told me about an asexual man she knew. The first person wants a husband, she just doesn’t like sex, but she acknowledges she’s heterosexual. The other person is said to have a wife, so obviously he’s straight.

I do know an asexual who hasn't (as far as I understand) gone through any trauma, but he is also quite autistic and has also been taking an absolute fuckton of adderall since he was a child. Like, 100mg a day. For perspective, I occasionally take it, and if I take more than 20mg I'm bouncing off the walls.

I don't know if there is any demonstrated effects of that much chronic use of amphetamines on one's sexuality, but I could easily imagine it might.

There are, they're just off probably doing hobbies and having a life instead of constantly talking about how much sex they are having, as the TQ+ "asexuals" do.

“Asexual myth busted: asexuals do not, in fact, exist”

RIGHT?! Like how is this not accomplishing the exact opposite of what would be helpful for the demographic?
