If they can convince people that children can consent to life-altering procedures then the next step is to convince people children can consent to sex with adults.

Agreed, that's a really good way of putting it. "Children are capable of consenting in the same way that adults are, to irreversible, untested medical interventions!" ties in well with "Children are capable of consenting to anything an adult can!" With no regard for stages of cognitive development or anything. The former is a very popular belief, currently, much more so than the latter, but some people are getting there on both... like that disgusting article someone posted the other day, about deliberately exposing children to kink exhibitions at pride parades.

It's almost like when you force gender stereotypes on to children and tell them they have to be the other gender to like certain activities they're going to claim to be the other gender.

This is clearly child abuse, but apparently we can't call blatant child abuse out for being child abuse anymore without being transphobic.
