The VA barely covers legitimate, service related costs. Now they're throwing what little money they do spend on veterans away on this?

There's a thread in Reddit's r/news about this. Almost all the responses are from vets complaining that they can't get basic dental and eye care. Noteworthy, because Reddit is typically reflexively pro-anything trans.

Then a few posts at the bottom from transactivists claiming that 40% of trans people kill themselves if they can't get facial feminization surgery, because transphobia, but also trans people are perfectly fit to serve in the military.

Gender ideology has succeeded by flying under cover of darkness. Most people are content to ignore issues around 'trans rights' if they believe those issues don't impact them. Americans care a lot about how their tax dollars are spent. This will wake a lot of people up.

America is a federation, right? I think it would be better if the states were made responsible for veterans benefits. And yes, this would definitely screw over vets who live in California or New York unless they’re trans, but at least veterans living in sane states will get everything they need and have earned and they won’t have to pay for the fuck ups of the federal government.

Anything related to the military (even the National Guard) will always be federal because it's national defense.

That definitely is what has gone on with education and public health, though. It's a major reason that red states are growing like crazy and blue states are losing population right now.

If you want the surgery, pay for it yourself. Don’t expect the taxpayer to pay for it.

So, while we are barely keeping our head above water with our debt and our VA can’t cover actual medical costs for vets, let’s just throw in crazy expensive, cosmetic surgeries. Surely people won’t be blaming LGB people for this! /s
