Not surprising that the retention of gay employees was poor. They must have been horrified by the reality of this experimentation. I'm glad they are able to speak up now. Sadly it's coming too late for some children who are too far along this pathway.

It drives me a bit insane that the obvious isn't obvious to everyone.

They probably had some kind of top down legal threat in the background. We have various NDA and HIPAA issues in the US and probably some similar issues in the UK. In the US we are often forced to sign various documents as a condition for employment. Those agreements are often completely unenforceable but there is still a pressure to follow them.

I had to sign a noncompete agreement for my job and that isn't legally binding in my state AFAIK but it's still there and I could be dragged into court over it.
