I’m not surprised to see that it seems these people are in over their heads. I haven’t seen much on their animal care experience. I’ll say that while I don’t know much about alpacas, I’ve worked around horses for many years so I’m evaluating based on that.

The one person quoted in claims of bad behavior towards workers frankly sounds like they had no idea that farm work can be physically demanding and pulled a “muh disability” when they couldn’t handle it. Referring to my property as “white colonizer shit” would also sour me on you. The handwringing over the alpacas in the snow is also ridiculous. Cattle are regularly out in the snow with no blankets, some horse breeds do fine without, and it seems they aren’t necessary for alpacas unless they’re old or skinny. I don’t like the exposed insulation in the shelter though and it seems they need to build more before bringing in more animals. Like I said, while I think some of the criticisms are overblown I don’t disagree that they’re out of their league and ought to start smaller before worrying about total self sufficiency.

I’ll also state my bias here and say that I unconditionally support the right for all law-abiding adults to bear arms, regardless if I think your personal politics are stupid or not. Shitty people who like to hurt others sadly exist and police are at best 45 minutes to over an hour away in much of rural America. I immediately rolled my eyes at the panty-wetting in the NPR article over them owning eeebil “assault weapons.” What I DON’T support is masturbatory fantasies over taking out hordes of bigots coming to kill you, aiming a gun at a person simply passing by your property in a car, and basically admitting to assaulting someone at a protest. This is my problem with a lot of the far-left gun advocacy groups, they hate on right wing groups for fantasizing about killing people but then they constantly plot out how they’ll take on “nazis” and such. I need to see police reports of claims that militia groups were on the property because I frankly trust neither the “tranchers” or that right wing paper being quoted.

Either way it’s best to see more facts about this whole operation and not blindly support something because the people running it are trans or whatever.
