Honestly you'll find most so-called "normies" feel this way, it just doesn't affect their lives enough to require any deeper thought.

That's why it's important to casually bring these topics up with them sometimes, so they can stay in the loop.

I’ve had similar conversations with my parents, and both are glad that I’m a normal person who happens to be gay. My dad is entirely switched on to this whole thing, knowing that it’s impossible to change your sex, so he doesn’t agree with any of the transgender stuff. My mam supports transgender people, but she objects to non-binary gender identities, knows that the word pansexual is stupid, finds the word cis offensive, and while she supports transsexual people, she firmly believes that rights come with responsibilities and is not afraid to criticise the transgender movement. She sympathises with JK Rowling, believes that transgender people should use a gender neutral toilet, and believes that you should be over 21 to get a sex change. It’s refreshing that my parents support me while also opposing how crazy the alphabet soup movement has become.

I think that these are very mainstream beliefs. I don't think most people seriously understand that the 'trans rights' movement is about allowing males to self ID into women's protected spaces and opportunities, nor what the medicalization of 'trans kids' actually entails. If they did, they'd be appalled, but everything has been couched in euphemisms about 'trans equality' and 'gender affirming' surgeries so that it's hidden from view.

From what I have experienced, most people know that biological sex is real and is confused/not comfortable about all the trans stuff; but they don't say anything in fear of being called out. In this situation, the emperor is naked and no one, not even a innocent child, dares to say a thing.

It’s funny you mention that. Later in our phone conversation, my mom was talking about her last year of teaching. (It was two years ago.) She said she showed her kids a picture of C.S. Lewis as a part of a lesson and said “He wrote a lot of books for adults too.” Apparently several kids piped up with, “You can’t assume someone’s gender.” My mom was floored and just said, “Who on earth told you that?” The kids said it was another teacher at school. My mom replied, “You all know perfectly well this is a man” and the kids were pretty much like “yeah you’re right.” I guess even indoctrinated kids know the real difference here.

That’s scary that those kids felt the need to call out their teacher for rightly stating that a male author is male, but good on your mother for standing up for reality. Wished all teachers were like her.

Kids just randomly pipe up that C.S. Lewis might not have been a man???? A Christian theologian no less. Oddly enough, he married a much younger Jewish girl (who converted), and sadly she died first despite being much younger.

Is this the norm now with everyone? Teacher mentions (shuffles deck) G. B. Shaw. "They might have been trans!" (Shuffles deck) Jonathan Swift. "Why are you assuming he was male?"

This is just STUPID. And the kids knew it, yet said it anyway.

My mom’s hypothesis on this was that they wanted to see how far they could push her.

[–]Femaleisnthateful 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

What kinds of people in society benefit from children not being able to recognize and name males and male body parts? Hmm...

What country? Jeez that's creepy. They're just repeating the talking points even though they know it's nonsense.

America. My mom taught with some crazy SJW the last four years of her career. She thought it was just him being a loon. It wasn’t until our conversation that she realized this is an actual thing being pushed on kids and in several institutions. Needless to say, she was furious.

[–]usehername 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Is she taking any steps to combat this, like speaking with the principal?

The kids are indoctrinated so young. :( So creepy that they answered like that.

Sounds like Stepford Children.

In my experience, most people don't understand gender identity/ ideology and don't want to. I have friends in their 30s who have asked me "What's transgender?" It's not that surprising if you consider that this terminology was all codified on social media and in academia and has only entered the mainstream in the last few years.

Many people - particularly those in older generations, are uncomfortable with anything to do with gender and sexuality and don't want to know.

Those conversations are great.

The gender cultists keep saying the "terfs" are a fringe movement but really they are vocal and brave women who just say out loud what most people think

No one believes a trans identifying male is a women or that nonbinary is a thing. Not even the cultists. I've seen several conversation on youtube between genderists and sane people and when you get the genderists all angry and upset they misgender everyone and say she or he just like everyone else would.

About 26 minutes into this vid you see just that. Someone trying to defend the woman sitting down but she started the convo stating she is non binary. Listen to the pronouns and how no one in the crowd nor the woman corrects the woman in the crowd. https://youtu.be/WtftZPL-k7Y

Thanks for sharing this - sometimes I find this sub a little depressing (we all know why...) and it's always good to get some positive vibes. Your mum sounds great - you're lucky!

My mom is also a Midwesterner in her 50s and has yet to ask me this. I keep waiting for her to find out lol

Interestingly, I used to live in a more woke city and not many people that I had private conversations with seem to buy it either. Hell, I personally know trans people who don’t even buy it. One of them told me “there are only men and women”.

I'd casually bring it up if I were you; it's important to keep the normies up to speed. Maybe she'll tell her friends. Sports is always a safe topic to bring up.

Similar situation here. My brother supports same-sex marriage etc. but thinks everything to do with “trans” is insane. My mother is in a similar boat, although she has empathy for adult transsexuals, she hates the idea of transing children. But because they’re both straight and normie it’s not on their mind that much.

<I know it’s kind of a boring conversation

No, its educational and plain common sense.

Thankfully my mother has those same positions because she used to play an amateur sport that allowed trans-identified males. She was a fantastic athlete, but of course the men destroyed the competition. I've told her about some things like censorship, AGP, and showed her videos of SRS. She watched the male one in complete horror, but couldn't make it through the female one. She's a medical professional and agrees it's completely against the Hippocratic oath. Most normies would agree if they knew the truth about SRS and trans demands.

That’s so sweet that you could have this conversation. I’m glad she’s not caught up with the BS!

Had a similar conversation with my parents and younger sister. After they brought up that my tia told my mom that her daughter/my cousin came out as genderfluid, I basically had to give them the rundown of what's been going on and why I strongly don't believe she's "genderfluid". They were all bewildered with what's been going on since, well, none of this stuff is ever brought to light really.
