Oh to have the all-knowing confident genius of a Zoomer:

Bisexual means being attracted to multiple genders

Pansexual means attracted to people regardless of gender.

A bisexual person may have a preference for men or women, they may like both equally, they may fluctuate on which they prefer over time.

A pansexual person doesn't really have a preference based on gender, they don't experience the fluidity that some bi people can experience.

there was also the guy that said Bi meant at least 2 of the genders. No clue as to why there os an arbitrary word for 2 or more. Why isn't there a word for at least 3? No Trigender?

Some of those responses are outright laughable... got a lot of armchair psychologists in the house:

But you’ve subconsciously rejected them already. If you had a child, and they came out as non-binary, and your internal reaction is that it is “some bullshit”, you can be outwardly supportive still. But that mentality will bleed into interactions with them from then on.

It is very easy to speculate on how we will act and how others will see our actions, but our subconscious bleeds through more than people realize.

"If you disagree with me, then it MUST be because you are subconsciously a bigot or hate yourself!" A little knowledge can be dangerous... sometimes I wonder whether there is a universal secret pact to plug your ears and refuse to learn anything else about psychology after hearing a little about Freud.

Hope you don't feel you have to take these responses too seriously, some real salty people in this thread, lol.

Last time i checked it's a parent's job to call out your kids bullshit and not let them do whatever so that they learn something and become decent human beings.

At least the post got more upvotes than downvotes. But this is Reddit. Stupid people go on Reddit. And no, I will not support pansexuals, no matter how many times some numpty tries to compare the so-called oppression of pansexuals and attentions-seekers to the oppression gay men face.

Don’t worry too much about it. You will find some of the dumbest people on the planet on Reddit, especially on political subs like AskGayBros. Just enjoy the salt.

That was a great post. "Biphobia" is a controversial term that doesn't have a set definition, I try not to use it to avoid mudslinging, but you have correctly noticed that pansexuals have some type of deeply held prejudice against bisexuality.

I think it's probably just run-of-the-mill homophobia. Part of pansexuals' whole thing is not being gay in any way but rather their same-sex attraction being part of some mystical spiritual wishy-washiness that is totally something different.

They are great, they contain multitudes, yes they are a little gay but that's just part of being special and indescribable!

I've gotten into issues in the past with the other letters about who gets to use which terms. Yes, same-sex attracted would have been the correct term to use but it doesn't communicate the emotional situation of bisexual people dealing with homophobia in this case. It is not a distinction made outside of pockets of the gay community.

I don’t understand ppl who are trying to turn this sub into discourse fodder. Like just scrolling through, aren’t the majority of guys on that sub just there to talk about dick or whatever? Let these gay Reddit men be gay in peace for fucks sake

No one does, but it's not really worth all this overthinking. Live and let live is the best way to be.

I smell a shill.
