God what a gross art style. Also, who the fuck writes this stuff and thinks it's good? What's the plot? The entire story is a list of identities!

People with poor social skills who see themselves as the characters in the show.

Damn... that's very true... I just don't understand the over-obsession with people that exactly mirror oneself in TV shows. It's so shallow to me... read a book or something.

Books are full of this woke shit too. There's a lesbian author who writes lesbian romance (which is praised to high heaven) and talks about living with her partner...who is, if you look through her older tweets, definitely a XY dick having not even a trans woman man.

Edit: This author is Tamsyn Muir, btw

I can see why a lot of parents are throwing out there tellies. Here in Ireland, the post office extorts €160 a year out of you just for owning a television, so that RTÉ can continue to hog oxygen. Is that €160 a year worth it for a device that can brainwash your children with this shite? Just so that RTÉ can continue to frighten people and turn Irish people against one another? Yeah, no thanks.

Even in Italy. You're forced to pay for national television even if you don't watch it. Television is boring as fuck, only old people watch it. Why watching it when you can watch netflix ?

Even Netflix is boring. I’m cancelling it soon and getting Amazon Prime. Then again, Netflix Ireland is terrible.

Yes, only old people watch television. In fact, they held a referendum in Switzerland on whether or not they should abolish the TV licence and the result was overwhelmingly negative, because it was mostly old people and middle aged people who bothered to show up to the polls. Why don’t they just make organisations like RTÉ, BBC and whatever Italy and Switzerland have become subscription services like Netflix and Prime? Oh yeah, because most boomers, most of the generation that came before boomers, and most older gen x-ers don’t want to adapt. These people are addicted to the television, and they treat the panel above the fireplace like it’s gospel. Television is to them what social media is to zoomers and younger millennials.

How do they determine the difference between a TV and a computer monitor? Size? Can you just hook up a PC/console and call it a monitor?

Isn’t internet even worse though?

Unrelated question, do you have to pay that tax for using radio or internet too? Or telly only? I know Germany let’s you pay for all 3. So you won’t have to pay only if you’re a recluse or too poor.

Ireland it covers television and radio. However, if you have any device that can access RTÉ media, then you have to pay the licence. So if you own a laptop, a large iPad, a radio or a PC, you have to pay €160 a year.

And yes, the internet can be worse than the state media, but at least with the internet you can look for what you want, whereas the state media is just government propaganda.

What if instead of this weird nonsense we had gay parents in media that were just normal parents. What if portrayals of gay couples didn’t have to come with some stereotypical woke agenda. Racial representation is great. But it’s the way that this is written as if that fundamentally implies some quirky new-age shit that we all know is aimed at a very specific audience of people with septum rings and bad haircuts that gags me.

A few years back I was at a LGBT group and they asked about pop culture with good examples of LGBT characters. I said Battlestar Galactica and got lots of confused looks. I explained how good it was because there were a bunch of gay characters that just existed in the show and there was no identity be attached. They were just incidentally gay and went about their jobs with no dramatic focus on them being gay because it wasn't important.

The regular people in the room were like yeah that makes sense. The 2 staff actually tried to argue with me a bit and moved on but gave some side eye and snide comments about the "importance of identity".

So yeah there's clearly a top down push by woketivists for the stuff in these shows.

there used to be a sci-fi show called warehouse 13 that I watched with my parents. there was a bisexual female character and a gay male character introduced and treated normally. the female character was shown to be bisexual from having both male and female lovers, and the gay male character mentioned he was gay and had a boyfriend to the main straight characters . other than that, they both had involvement in the plot that had absolutely nothing to do with their sexuality. the bisexual was a normal woman and the gay man was a normal man, free of stereotypes, just an average woman and average man. the gay guy even developed a cool bro-type friendship with the straight male main character. all this was treated as normal.

i honestly think that might've been the first time my parents had seen gay/bi characters in media that were just portrayed as just common people you could meet in real life. i know it was definitely impactful for me, too. on a sci-fi show that wasn't even that popular, nonetheless.

That's why I'm sick to death of sci fi (books especially) making their entire plots about casts of gay. Older books would have gay characters and it would be a side note, they'd be character first, sexual orientation second. But now it's sexual preference and identity first, character never. I miss the days of having things like the Vorkosigan saga, where one of the main characters was from a planet where people wore earrings to show what their orientation was and what kind of relationship they were looking for, and they were beyond caring about if someone was gay or not. It was great.

Billy Porter. black gay males betrayed the gay community and thought if they were homophobic enough, they would gain support from homophobic black heterosexuals. it never happened, and now white gays and every other type of gay wont talk to them and theyre heavily stigmatized and dont know how to escape the bitterness and resentment they have for the white gays and lesbians they tried to sabotage. he literally knows nothing about the gay community and thinks it was genuinely started by black people. Bily Porter is a narcissistic joke. he was also at the DNC by the way. Just look at what a clown he is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9nTxOMtbEI everyone literally thought this was a parody video making fun of democrats. they didnt know this performance was sincere.

They might as well just announce Trump's next presidency now.

Someone worse, because Trump is an idiot. And I say that having interacted with him at length twice, with one degree of separation.

Those gay parents are totally ripped off from Absolutely Fabulous: Justin & Oliver, Eddie's gay ex-husband and his boyfriend.

I was a fan of the original series Proud Family. It always had a progressive nature but handled somewhat well for its audience. I don’t like the term “wokeness” applied here whe it was one of the only animated shows on Disney centering around a Black family.

I really liked the series when I was younger. Reallly.
