I've personally made the decision not to allow my kid (if I have one) to have their own iPad or to use my phone on their own until they're close to starting high school. I'll probably seen like a bitch to other parents, but it's well known that kids have been coming to school non-verbal because of unmoderated screen time and behave violently if you try to peel them away from a screen. I'd let them watch tv for a few hours a day, but that's about it. It's also very likely that my kid will have autism like me, if I decide to use my egg, so they'll be more likely to be non-verbal at first anyway, so I don't need to add to that by giving them an iPad (they'll be able to pick using tech easily anyway if they're autistic, so they won't be left behind because they never used one).
