Brilliant win. But this will send the TRAscists into a tailspin. Their rage will know no reasonable bounds.

Because they've been so calm and measured up to this point.

This is excellent news. A victory for common sense and, as the article states, this goes some way to restoring faith in governmental systems.

The Twitter 'backlash' is so predictable. You can imagine exactly the kind of cretins who are upset by this news but I think it's important not to let the blue-haired, 'disabled', anime-profile-picture-having oxygen thieves skew our perception of the issue because they're a tiny, always-online minority of nutters.

I was definitely cackling at how many of the complaints come from straight SJWs and obvious transbians. (As in, you can tell from glancing at a small thumbnail photo that it’s a dude.)

You can always clock them from a thumbnail of their best picture with best pose with filters. Yet they all think they "pass" irl

Typing in all caps will surely persuade the Charity Commission to reconsider NOW.

At midday today it was announced by the Charity Commission that the LGB Alliance had been granted charitable status following a rigorous, investigative process. The 4,000+ word report accompanying the announcement made it clear that a number of objections were raised, all of which were comprehensively considered before being dismissed. This has left a number of politicians and minor celebrities looking rather silly.

The Charity Commission “concluded that the purposes of LGB Alliance, as properly construed in accordance with the legal framework, are charitable and beneficial.” This is at odds with the ‘sinister’ ‘hate group’ described by John Nicolson MP, a politician who alongside Baroness Barker urged the BBC not to offer a platform to the LGB Alliance. Nicolson and Barker are not the only politicians sheltering behind parliamentary privilege, Kirsty Blackman MP and Jamie Stone MP have also smeared the LGB Alliance as hateful and transphobic.

More on the link.

I know some people (including myself) have reservations about the LGB Alliance as a group, but I would still call this a win-- they should have been allowed to have charitable status in the first place, even if they were a transgender rights group.

Optically, this is good, because it shows that there are charities focused on LGB issues, and charities focused on trans issues, and... oh, wait, there are LGB-specific charities I can support, without any of the child medicalization or invented pronouns bullshit? It'll be news to a lot of people.

(Sort-of LGB charities. But maybe that discussion belongs on a different post.)

Yes, I totally agree. This is a win. It is an important step in breaking through the censorship and illusory bonds holding together this fake concept of an “LGBTQ Community.” Given the choice, a lot of people would just rather not real with gender ideology if they can avoid it bc even those who don’t know the details can see it’s at minimum a lot of drama and totally unrelatable to ordinary LGB people.

Despite today’s victory, it remains unclear why a group advocating for the rights of those who are same-sex attracted should attract such hostility.

It is clear that the big beasts of the LGBT world have their snouts in the trans trough, promoting a questionable ideology in order to keep the funds rolling in.

I'm loving this. Not only is this great news, but anyone with half a brain cell and isn't a raging TRA narc will peak when they see what the LGB alliance actually is and how many people have a problem with this.

It's a hate group because I say it is! And if you ask for proof that they're a hate group then that's literal proof that you literally support a literal proven hate group! End of discussion.

It's not my job to prove that they're hateful! You have to find the evidence yourself. And if you can't find any then that's literal proof that you're hateful too.

Just imagining some of the reactions.

It is especially funny watching Twitter have a meltdown about this considering that LGBA does absolutely fuck-all for anyone. This will almost certainly do nothing at all.

Notice how if gays and lesbians dont want to be walked over, then theyre a hate group? If narcissistic homophobic girls who identify as asexual, demi flux trash arent centered within the gay community, theyre being oppressed. if theyre not recognized, then it's hate? How about asexuals build a community and we invade it and demand they center us.

This is not good. An obvious scam that caters to pedophiles and fetishizes children should not be given charity status.

But then again, I suppose Mermaids got charity status too. The UK is great at defending child abusers, huh?

Proof?

I've heard you mention your concerns before about LGB Alliance being overly influenced by radfems, and I'm inclined to agree that that's very concerning. But I don't know of anything they do involving child fetishizing...

He may be referring to the LGB Alliance Iceland article where they made a weird comment coming out as pro-surgery on the bodies (genitalia) of intersex kids, which that plus radfems plus pro-LGB everything is an anthema to our resident Salty Emo Lizard.

But as I’ve said before in my mind they need to drop positions that have nothing to do with LGB or they only hurt their cause and I do wonder where the hell that position came from that it was relayed so casually and randomly like that in an article on LAGN.

[–]reluctant_commenter 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Ah gotcha, thank you. That does help clarify, lol.

Totally agree. (*hurt, I'm assuming)

My guess about the intersex position, is that they also made the mistake of assuming "intersex = trans" and were then like, "doing surgeries on kids you think are transgender is bad! Therefore surgeries related to intersex conditions..." must be good...? All right, never mind, I don't know.

[–]yousaythosethingsFind and Replace "gatekeeping" with "having boundaries" 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yes *hurt 😝

The more I tried to understand that statement about intersex kids the less it made sense. Like if they’re against unnecessary surgeries on “trans kids” why not the same on intersex kids? They didn’t frame the surgeries as “medically necessary.” Just that it would give them a higher quality of life. Seems a lot like gender ideology logic to me!

[–]reluctant_commenter 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly!! Really strange. I'll be keeping an eye out for that claim if I see it again. Another possible parallel between radfems/TRAs, I guess...
