love the commenters pointing out that these "gay" trans men only showed up after rights were won, and played no part in gay history. ain't that the truth. if that's not enough to show people how much of a farce this whole thing is, I don't know what is. and yet still some gay people simp for the T. make it make sense.

TRAs could argue that trans people were closeted and/or apolitical like a lot of LGB people were/are. A lot of minorities / marginalized people in general are cowards who have never fought for their own rights and liberation.

Fortunately, I've seen a lot of gay/bi women at rallies/protests. 🥰

I can see that argument. Still, despite many LGB people being closeted and/or apolitical, there are still plenty of historical records documenting our existence. "gay" trans people are a recent phenomenon... although I guess TRAs would just argue this by trans-ing historical figures - more often than not women who were trying to escape their gender roles, or cultural "third genders" which were assigned to homosexual or feminine men as a way of othering them - since they love rewriting history so much.

I suspect a lot of young gay Redditors are themselves disconnected from the fight for gay rights. They may have never experienced real discrimination themselves, so it's an abstraction to them, and they earnestly believe that 'misgendering' and 'deadnaming' constitute bigotry.

are we pretending gay people pushed this trans stuff and lesbians dont? Or that almost all of their power comes from straight women?

I don't think I understand your questions? I'm saying a lot of gay people (gay men and lesbians) unfortunately support TRA nonsense despite it being a direct insult to our history as well as our sexual orientation. of course it's driven by straight people but the LG that goes along with it is either wildly misinformed or disingenuously trying to seem progressive while lying to themselves and everyone else.

Trans people may not have started the gay rights movement but we were always there. We may not have the same experiences as cis gay men but we still get homophobic comments all the time.

homosexual and bisexual trans people were always there, yes. and HSTS did play a part in the gay rights movement because they were gay themselves.

but heterosexual trans people who "identify" as "gay trans men" or "tranbians"? where?

Is the experience of a black person different from that of Rachel Dolezal?

Or from that of Barack Obama or Kamala Harris, for that matter. But they kinda look like maybe they might be descended from American slaves! I can't understand how that's not regarded as some of the vilest, most cynical and blatant racism, but then again I am still in the foolish habit of expecting this timeline to make sense.

There is no WAY an actual cis "21 year old gay man" wrote that question. It's obviously yet another ftm "gay man" trying to poke and provoke a response. Wanting to validate the idea that there's "no difference". An actual gay male doesn't entertain the idea that someone with a vagina and raised as a girl is JUST like him. 21 year olds have a lot of other things on their mind, for sure! So, yeah, there's the trans "gay men" lying again.
