sane trans people

Oxymoron. 😄

The ones I've known who are old-school transsexual have been sane enough in the ways that count. They might personally be struggling internally but as far as being functional members of society goes, and decent friends, they seemed all right to me.

I've met one. Are there others?

I don't think I've met one. I say this with love, because I personally know at least 2 T's that I care for.

Rose of Dawn. Refreshingly not batshit crazy. Also pretty thorough research into some of the crazier TRA.

And Blaire White.

I've known a few. Yeah, they exist.

I'm very surprised by how reasonable a lot of the comments in that post are.

[–]milknciggiesLGBToxic 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I believe they exist, it's just a very quiet minority.

Well, truscum are the original trans people, the ones wo say you actually need to have gender dysphoria in order to be trans. (We called these people transsexuals in the 1990s and 2000s.)

Transtrenders and AGPs probably hate them as much as they hate T*RFs.

Edit: Clarified.

They do. I follow a few transsexuals on twitter and they used to get the same tra harassment. It's honestly been quiet lately i think most of the gender ideologues use those terfblocker apps, written by rapists, to block everyone who is considered a terf

Sounds great. Now if they'd just complete the task of leaving us and our spaces alone. But of course, they still want to use our "clout" such as we might still have any after what they've done to it.

[–]GConly 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

probably hate them as much as T*RFs.

TERFs don't hate the old school HSTS (Homosexual transexuals). We never gave a toss about them using women's facilities prior to this craziness, because they never played up or harassed us. The worst you risked was a bitchy comment about you dress sense. They also seem to have genuine issues with excessive femininity, probably down to low grade androgen insensitivity.

In a weird way a lot of them are becoming allies. They want the gatekeeping back, so do the TERFs.

The original commenter can correct me, but I think that was intended to mean "probably hate them as much as they hate T*RFs." That's how I read it.

You are correct.

It's unfortunate that Reddit doesn't allow moderators to be reviewed by sub members and removed based on shit like this.

This morning, I was reading drama in the redditrequest sub between a few people who want to acquire the Loans sub after the creator was removed and temporarily suspended for 3 days for not removing personal information about a scammer (someone who didn't pay back a loan).

Why doesn't Reddit remove and suspend mods for grooming teens or allowing people to groom teens in a sub? Grooming does more longterm harm than most of the other shit that people are suspended for.

Also, there's been drama in the FTMMen sub lately (not related to grooming though).

A reminder of sub rules 4 and 7 - https://www.reddit.com/r/FTMMen/comments/mky01i/a_reminder_of_sub_rules_4_and_7/

It always seems to boil down to how mods moderate.

This sounds both like a great idea and a thing that TRAs would exploit to wreck subs like, say, AGB. Collective bullying is their kink.

I feel bad for r/truscum. I don't necessarily agree with all of their ideas, but they're definitely the sane and rational trans peeps. They need to drop the alphabet soup too if trans people are ever going to get the support they need.

[–]wafflegaffWoman. SuperBi. 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

And something else they should drop: The slur "truscum." They aren't scum. Using that term on themselves plays along with TRA bullying. Ignoring it would be better.

True.

They used to have r/TrueTrannies, but it became overrun with spam and the mod was MIA. So two different users made subs r/truscum and r/transmedical. The r/TrueTrannies mod came back, and didn't know what to do with the sub since everyone bailed, so first they just deleted everything, and then finally made it private.

r/truscum took off faster than r/transmedical since it was made first, so that's where everyone tends to congregate. I believe they may also have two slightly different approaches. Transmeds believe in the goal of medical transition, whereas Truscum may or may not. Both believe gender dysphoria is required to be trans though, and that dysphoria is something medical in nature - whether it's a genuine biology/brain-based diagnosis or a mental illness is up for debate among them.

They could't go to r/transexual because it's being squatted on by powermods who reject "truscum". I don't remember why they didn't head over to r/transsexual (2 S-es) - there's a whole new mod team and rules there currently, so maybe it was also being squatted on back in the day or too open to "tucute" at the time.

Thank you for this history. I hope they stop accepting the incidental incorporation of a self-imposed slur into their conversation space at some point, and migrate to a new one.

That was epically red pilled, for the most part.

Damn even trans people in the comments are admitting the community is a bunch of dangerous recruiters at this point.
