That has been a thing for a several decades, though (remember NAMBLA? And PIE if you're in the UK?), and it seems like that door is pretty well shut. I don't think pedophilia has a snowball's chance in a desert of ever being legalized.

Maybe not legalized, but there are a lot of people who defend pedos or act like they don't care.

Off the top of my head I remember some cases from my own country where prosecutors said a 13yo is old enough to say no, so the rapist didn't go to jail, same with an 11yo where the rapist threatened to kill her family etc These are just from the past year and I don't follow the news or I'm sure I could give you more examples like this.

Wrong. Check the latest post from Kellie Jay-Keen on YouTube. There's a "feminist" document being pushed through the UN, sponsored by all the usual alphabet + groups - trying to sneak through a LOWERING OF THE AGE OF CONSENT.

For puberty blockers, for sexual intercourse etc for kids. This is what happens when you let men call themselves women. Feminism means whatever the bepenised lesbians want it to mean, all so they can get younger prey.

I looked into this, and found that she was referring to this document. While it does contain alarming language that could be interpreted as supporting a reduction of the age of consent, this is a lobbying coalition, and nothing is being "pushed through the UN".

Would anything the PIE or NAMBLA puts out be interpreted as a threat to statutory rape laws? I think the answer to that is pretty clearly no. Call me when you've got a legislature actually discussing it on the floor.

Pedo rights? Of course that could never fly, people support homosexuality on the basis of consent between adults. But pedophiles are like gays in the sense they don't control their attraction and being a pedo doesn't mean being a child abuser. I see no such logic for children transitioning which can't also be used to support child molestation/rape.

Because parents have some misconception that their child's sexuality isn't anything worth considering and will pop into being at noon on their 18th birthday. They don't see the hormones as having anything to do with sex, sexuality, sterilization, etc, because it's a kid.

Big disagree. I think it's because the vast majority of people will simply go along to get along. Everyone is aware in the back of their heads that if they get a little to uppidy about trans kids that they're gonna be fired from their job and doxxed.

I can't remember the name, but there was this one moron who went up to a whole bunch of white people protesting for BLM and he ooked and them and made a bunch of gorilla noises to make fun of black people. Yeah, that's awful but the dude was 60 IQ and he mowed grass and cut hedges for a living. The guy was captured on video and he got fired from his job. That's garbage reasoning. There's no coherent argument that someone can make that a kid can transition at 12 but can't get molested by some perv on Scruff. If they wanted to form a community as a support group for the end goal of not acting on their sexuality (and these do exist,) then they have my full support. Any sensible person would go to bat for that, but most people just want to have their moral panic. The thing is, if you deprive pedophiles of having a meaningful life, if you chase them to the ends of the earth merely over pure attraction and not action, then they may just become the monsters you fear.

And while I'm 100% behind prison terms for child molestation, the idea that prison will work as some sort of conversion therapy is not very enlightened.

I was on Reddit, (I know, I need to get off that site,) what? Yesterday? Where a person recounted an instance of being molested at age 11, and they felt it was a neutral to positive experience for them. Cue some sort of "savior" swooping in, telling them how horrible it really must of been, and that they should be so screwed up because of it and here's where to go to get help and blah blah blah. Not added, of course. For what he said, he started to get attracted to kids at puberty and never stopped. Seems innate. But there might be also cases of people who were abused.

If he wanted to do harm he wouldn't put himself out there. Exposing only makes him a target. I think he is speaking to get people know the difference between having pedo feelings and actually being a chld abusers, and that's not right to consider monster people just for their feeling. Can be an example for others in his situation, to speak with someone and control themselves.

There is a big difference between saying sexual activity with children is right and saying that pedo can't control their feeling and you shouldn't hate people for feeling out of control. A pedo who doesn't touch kids is not a monster. MAP were promoting abusing kids. He is not doing any promotion of child abuse, quite the opposite, he is an example of someone who is controlling himself ebcause he knows their actions would be extremely harmful.

I don't understand this sentiment, you're not the first to share it, I've seen it elsewhere on topics that are not pedophilia. If I say heterosexuality is a sexual orientation, nobody cares, right? It's just a statement of fact. Another, more precise way, of phrasing that statement is that heterosexuality is an example of a sexual orientation. Nothing in that statement implies that heterosexuality should be added to the LGBTQ+ initialism, but somehow, that intent is often ascribed to the person making the statement that XYZ is a sexual orientation.

Nothing about pedophilia--having the attraction--strikes me as volitional. It appears to be identical to heterosexuality, homosexuality, and bisexuality with the obvious and very unfortunate difference that the age of attraction is generally under 10 years and does not correspondingly increase with the age of the pedophile.

There's significant biomarkers in pedophilic men--lower IQ, shorter in height, left-handedness, structural differences in the white matter (wiring) of their brains. These are not volitional things.

What would the definition of sexual orientation be? Well, I'd say, it's obviously sexual, has an early age-of-onset, it's not volitional, it's innate, immutable, and life-long.

Anyhow, my point is, pedophilia looks like a sexual orientation to me (statement of fact) and the letter "P" for pedophilia should not be added to the LGBTQ+ initialism (my personal opinion that happens to be quite popular.) I don't understand why people constantly conceptualize that any sort of non-heterosexuality must be added to the initialism. If you could help me understand that, I would appreciate it. It would be useful to know because there's a bunch of things waiting in the wings that want a place in the alphabet soup.

I don't think pedophila will be tolerated/accepted. There are two other -philas before it that adults who are attracted to minors would have to convince people to tolerate first.

Ephebophilia is the primary sexual interest in mid-to-late adolescents, generally ages 15 to 19. There's also hebephilia - the strong, persistent sexual interest by adults in pubescent children who are in early adolescence, typically ages 11–14 and showing Tanner stages 2 to 3 of physical development.

In the black community, these -philias are swept under the rug by parents whose daughters are molested by men. My ex-girlfriend (42) was one of those girls... she was impregnated at 13 and 14 by a man 10+ years older than her. He was never reported to the police.

Doesnt this happen with every race though? Im in the black community and while this luckily hasnt happened to me, I have a friend who found out as a teen that her brothers were molested by their granddad. And apparently her brother is a pedo and has admitted to touching other boys

At the moment I think this is a bit of a weak narrative. For all the positives about this sub, it does have its fair share of hysteria and panic about this topic. From what I've seen, the extent of the mainstream LGBT community's "acceptance" of paedophiles is "They should never act on their attractions, but also shouldn't be stigmatised for something they can't control." And I see nothing wrong with that sentiment.

Outside of scandals like Aimee (and I see that more as a reflection of Reddit's questionable values more than anything else) I really don't see where this "the LGBT+ community now welcomes pedos!" narrative is coming from. At best it's an extremely fringe subset of the community that sees widespread backlash when they make their intentions known.

I'm open to discussion though.

I feel kinda bad for pedophiles. They didn't choose to be attracted to kids just like I didn't choose to be attracted to other men. Unlike me though, they can never, ever legally act on their urges. That's gonna lead to some massive psychological problems. Especially with how ostracized that entire group is, which leads to even just looking for support will destroy them, without having done anything wrong in their lives at all.
