I don't think a TRA would struggle at all or even attempt to "explain it." They'd just say that both of those sentences are indeed true and that it's not an example of doublethink, and the only people that would think it was doublethink are Nazi fascist transphobes that deserve to be killed.

They also can't explain any distinction or boundary between what's an acceptable identification and what isn't. For example, if I'm 48, but identify as 24, who's to say that's not true? If I look human, but identify as a cat, why can't I be treated at the local vet? If I appear white, but identify as black . . . well, we all know how that goes.

They say you're just being an asshole when you bring up examples like that, but, in the end, what is the distinction that makes one assertion acceptable and another unacceptable? They won't admit it, but the answer is always: Because I said so.
