I remember when they were arguing that no minors were being given hormones or surgeries and now they're outraged by governments banning the things they said weren't happening.

Why are they outraged if the things being banned weren't happening?

Didn't realize that was a goalpost that got moved, do you know who/when was claiming that?

Why are they outraged if the things being banned weren't happening?

Lol, exactly. If it's "never happening" then what's the big fuss?

People were claiming it as recently as a month ago when the superstraight movement happened. The straights learned for the first time that kids were being given hormones and mastectomies and were outraged by it. TRAs tried to say it never happens.

The TRAs try to say a lot of things never happen, don't they?

I know, right!

They're now deliberately misinterpreting it and acting as though ALL healthcare for trans people is being denied. Like hospital visits, therapy, etc etc, are all being denied on the basis of being trans.

That was like a year ago. Crazy how fast things change.

LOL they're still saying both of these things at the same time.

Say what you will about the South, but I’m glad we’ve been at the forefront of standing up against this.

Happy to re-flair as "LGB News" or "Child Transing".

As you could imagine, most of the US news reporting about this event is extremely disingenuous, and avoid naming the bill in the headlines-- whereas they included the name of the bigoted bill "Equality Act" in every single headline. Go figure, lol.

BUT. There are some good signs! Take a look at this this article, for instance, which actually includes a quote from the side against transitioning children:

Pediatricians fall on both sides of this bill. ...

Dr. Grady Crosland said there are times where those therapies are appropriate and this bill does not block those instances,

“This bill simply refers to those who are looking at a transition, a gender transitional phenomenon,” he said.

Crosland noted that a majority of teens wanting to transition are girls, saying the culture of affirmation and acceptance drives them to these decisions and they can become instant celebrities. He also believes there is not enough long-term study on how puberty blockers or cross hormone drugs affect adolescents.

No worries about the flair, it can kinda fit into them all, right?

Us mods are talking about the addition of new flairs for the sub, we'll post an update/community input thread soon :)

Wait is this is Arkansas’ “anti-trans” bill I’ve been hearing about?

Good on Arkansas. Hope more states will follow.

Twitter is simultaneously shrieking they don't give hormones and surgery to under 18s ANYWAY and that this is genocide.

Can't vote.

Can't drive.

Can't fight.

Can't fuck.

Can't do adult time for your crimes.

Can't smoke.

Can't drink.

Can't get a shot.

Can't see naked people.

Can't buy most things of value.

Check. Check. Check. Check. Check.

Taking puberty blockers and undergoing permanent organ surgeries? A OKAY BRUH LETS GET IT!

And I'm already seeing my classmates post about how we need to stop this in snapchat. Is there even a way for non-Arkansas residents to do anything? If this is a state law, then none of us several states over can do anything about it

[–]reluctant_commenter[S] 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I really don't think there is... I feel you dude, it's plastered all over my feed 🙄 performative "allies" are freaking out, when this is a legitimate win for LGB children! It's nuts.

What state legislatures can do is pass bills boycotting Arkansas. The California state legislature, a collection of corrupt, virtue-signalling, goons if there ever were one, routinely passes or threatens bills punishing states that refuse to play Big Gender's game.

I don't know if you feel like sticking your neck out, but posting the market research studies that I just posted on how Big Gender has little to do with human rights and mostly to do with profiting off of gay and confused kids' bodies might sway them?

I always mention that the puberty blocker Lupron, used the most in the US, is used to chemically castrate sex offenders - so are these supporters of "trans rights" down for the chemical castration of kids just entering adolescence, or younger?

Do you have a source for this? If so, I'd like to share this with others as well.

Here's some background, but if you lose it you can actually just type "Lupron" and "castrate sex offenders" into a search engine and you will pull up a lot of information.

The information on the dangers of puberty blockers is all out there, which is why it's super-extra absurd that both transition defenders and those who don't know, but have to legislate on the issue, haven't seem to have done simple web searches.

Please fact check these for yourself:

They Say Lupron Is Safe July 2020 https://www.hormonesmatter.com/they-say-lupron-safe/

What It’s Like to Be Chemically Castrated/ THE CUT Dec. 2015 "These days, the treatment is associated with sex offenders or people with troubling sexual fantasies they fear they will act on. In 2000, doctors started using a drug designed to treat prostate cancer to lower men’s sexual urges. The drug Lupron tricks the hormone in the brain that tells the pituitary gland to produce testosterone. Dr. Renee Sorrentino is one of a handful of psychiatrists offering Lupron to patients in Massachusetts. She first saw the drug in action while working in Canada and was amazed at how it changed men’s lives by “turning down the sexual volume of the mind,” allowing patients to work through the causes of their behaviors with therapy. Sorrentino says that about 20 percent of her current Lupron patients are there voluntarily, often desperate to curb their troubling sexual thoughts or actions." https://www.thecut.com/2015/12/what-its-like-to-be-chemically-castrated.html

There's nothing they can do democratically. Big Tech or the billionaire Trans Lobby might be able to threaten/blackmail/boycott the Governor into not singing it. The articles contain this quote

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, seen here March 23, 2020, has not said whether he will sign the new bill into law.

so I wouldn't count our chickens yet.
