There recently was a transman, Scott Newgent, on Dan Crenshaw’s podcast. They explained it as trans people think transitioning will solve their problems. So, they are excited to get on hormones. But then the newness wears off and their problems are there. So, they get excited about top surgery. Then that’s over and their problems are still there. So, they get excited for bottom surgery. Then that happens, their problems are still there, they have a ton of medical bills, their sex life is trashed, finding a partner is hard, there’s usually extra medical complications afterwards, and they realize they’ve got nothing else to look forward to for solving their problems.

Whoa, this is crazy!!!

I completely agree! I've never heard of this before. I've seen a lot more evidence about how it doesn't work, if you want to read more: https://saidit.net/s/LGBDropTheT/comments/70v6/tavistock_quietly_releases_its_experimental_data/

But I didn't realize that it was actually investigated by the US federal government, and in 2016. WTF.

Perhaps that was their way of saying they hadn't been bribed enough yet.

You know how in old TV shows when a private investigator is trying to get info from a street informant, and he gives the guy $20, and the guy goes "uh, gee, I don't remember," and then the investigator adds another $50 and gets "I think some of it's coming back to me now." Then $100 later, suddenly the informer has all the detailed info.

I think it's like that. Clearly the palms have been greased a lot more since that report.
