Affirmation also solidifies a trans identity. Dysphoria is a condition affecting individuals; transition is only one treatment for that condition. “Being” trans seems as though it attaches an identity to a condition, and I don’t think that’s a helpful way to think. Individuals live with a variety of conditions, without letting those condition define them.

Can't really add anything to this. Not giving oneself a chance to find out if she can heal / grow / evolve into acceptance of her female body does a huge disservice.

If we could remove misogyny and LGB people were not a sexual minority, in the sense that it was as easy to find partners as it is for straight people, we'd find out what's really going on here and whether or not it would even still occur that a similar number of women are uncomfortable with being women—i.e. if women were respected and rewarded equally with men, and free to love themselves and other women without interference and immense difficulty. If, in other words, this was a level playing field in all of the ways that matter.

But that0s not possible. Simply same sex attracted people are a smaòll minority, it will never be easy to find partner as it is for straights, and that's why being homosexual is just a bit of alienating experience, even in an accepting world, you still different and struggle much more in a world made for people attracted to the opposite sex.

I think butch women are just naturally masculine. They've always have been naturally masculine lesbians, and naturally masculine gay men. In the past, they were not expected to change their body, actually being masculine woman or feminine men were considered integral part of homosexuality, which is totally wrong, but not worst than a world where young kids are expected to pretend they're the opposite sex because their mannerism or style preferance aren't the one expcted from them. In the end seeing sex as just a genetic factor, and accepting masculinity and femininity can be in both sexes is the only solution

But that0s not possible.

Of course not. That's why it was a hypothetical musing.

This is beautiful, I agree with everything she's said here. This story resonates with me so much. It makes me so happy to read stories about butch lesbians accepting and being happy with who they are.

Really fantastic piece from Lauren, she seems like a great person who has thought very carefully about the best options, not just for her but also for her family. I hope she continues to be happy. Over 13 k views as well, that's one of the highest read counts I've seen on the site so far.
