Centre left, although I hate the notion that because I'm gay, I'm expected to a) agree with all this woke bullshit, and b) be an activist. Can I just, I don't know, exist like straight people have and continue to do?

I totally agree. I created this poll just to disprove the accusation that we're all right wing Nazi (lol) bigots because we don't believe in TQ ideology

And thank you for that.

Ugh, completely agree. A disturbing number of people in my area think that gay = far-left, pro-antifa, pro-violence-against-evildoers (I'm against violence in general). I have political opinions but the transgender trend is one of the only topics I'm motivated to do any sort of activism on, because it happens to affect me personally.

Trans activists hate this the most. I see them bitch and moan about “cis gays” so much, it’s really repulsive. They think gay is an “identity” just like trans is, instead of it just being, y’know, same-sex attraction. Those “normal gays” are a thousand times more authentic then they will ever be.

im gay. liberal. and i want my liberal space back from these people. i think a lot of gays and lesbians are complete idiots for giving up our spaces and ideology to them when we let them hold on to it and run away until we have nothing. If they scream theyre victims, just scream you're an even bigger victim.

Cranky. Can I identify as that? Are there special pronouns for it?

On the real, I’m very much in the center. American society seems to mostly push to extremism now and people on all sides wear emerald glasses.

I'm not sure there's a general one. I would have formerly called myself progressive (that's on the left, for those not in the US) but that seems to be weighed down with a lot of nonsense currently. So I go with freethinker. Because it's true and annoys people who like pigeonholes—for those other than themselves.

There's no predominantly white, predominantly straight political party that really suits me. I'd prefer an all-female Black Panther party. Our members wouldn't have to be gay, but they couldn't view males as our allies. I'm really tired of women stabbing me in the back for men... even within the lgb community.

Lib-left

[–][deleted] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I test out as center left (that does not mean undifferentiated!), lib, and politically homeless.

I’m liberal. I voted Green Party for several years but now I’m just an Independent. I’ve been doing LGB and feminist activism for years. I started out supporting trans rights even, until they started bullying gays, taking away women’s spaces, destroying language, etc.

Left. Voted for Bernie in the US Dem primary, RIP.

Libertarian left is probably the closest thing.

Center left.

I swing between left of center and right of center. Both sides of the debate often make good points, and at the end of the day the founding directive of democracy is to spitball different ideas and act on what you think is best. It's not a team sport unless you're a politician.

I’m gay and I’m right libertarian for the most part. On some issues however I’m left authoritarian. For instance I believe in a free market that lets small businesses breathe (right libertarian), but I also believe in regulating the market to prevent corporations like Google, Amazon or Microsoft from buying up too much land, buying out small businesses or crushing the competition to form monopolies. I believe that people should be free to do what they want and I want a small, accountable government, but I also believe that all able bodied citizens between the ages of 17 and 30 should do two years military training to ensure that we can be ready if another country tried to invade mine, which has happened many times before. Just to clarify, the military should only exist to train and mobilise citizens in case of invasion or crisis, I am strongly against sending troops out of the country to pointless wars like the Vietnam War, the War in Iraq or the War in Syria. I believe that people should be allowed to own guns, but because guns are dangerous, they should be regulated the same way cars are regulated. I believe that if you’re an adult you should be allowed to put whatever the hell you want into your body, but if you sell dangerous drugs like meth or crack to people, traffic dangerous drugs into the country, or consume drugs like meth or crack in front of a child, you should be imprisoned. I believe in the individual, but I also believe in strong, tightly-knit communities because human beings are interdependent social creatures.

But how does my stretched out political ideology affect my stance on gay rights? I support gay marriage, I support the right of homosexuals and bisexuals to serve in the military and the police, I support banning conversion therapy for minors and non-consenting adults and I support the right of same sex couples to adopt. I am opposed to sex education in primary schools, I want to ban drag queen story hour, I support banning surrogacy and pride parades should be allowed if the organisers filter out the degeneracy.

I used to mistakenly think I was a classical liberal or perhaps a boring centrist with a live and let live attitude, but I Educated Myself, Did Better, and learned that I am in fact a Far-Right Fascist according to compassionate progressives on social media.

I find myself kind of politically homeless these days. Depending on the issue, I might agree with some positions that are traditionally liberal or traditionally conservative. For example, I feel like government needs to be involved to some extent in managing healthcare, but I'm not in favor of "woke" identitarian politics because so much of it seems so dishonest.

[–]Destresse🇨🇵 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Politics these days depresses me. I thought I was a left-winger, mostly because I was indoctrinated into thinking left = good people and right = assholes. I have no clue where I stand on the political spectrum. All I know is I'm angry.

Mostly center with a lib-right lean.

Centre left. Bi.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Non-libertarian center-left. Former progressive and then female sex was being actively erased. And then conversion therapy was endorsed by who I used to think was progressive. 100% not voting dems if they continue this genderfuckery.

[–]emptiedriver 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't really buy the 4-quadrant form but I'd prob be an authoritarian left, or some kind of socialist if we named it differently, ie, I would want to try to avoid "might makes right" and so have democratic intervention to push toward a more fair society. But I totally recognize the problems and am basically a depressed Platonist who sees humanity as incapable of governing itself at this point :).

But, I put communication and discourse high on the list of what's important, so part of my biggest issue with the US left these days is the intolerance of opposing views and debates. I've never been a big fan of the economic approaches of libertarians, but they do support free speech. And I'd get behind something like a guaranteed basic income... So I'm flexible, open to ideas, think of politics as trying to figure out the best way we can make a world that people can find happiness in so it's not like we have all the answers worked out...

I consider myself left, I vote left (despite living in a red state and a conservative county) but I've definitely felt alienated and put off by the fact that I'm expected to support Democrats without question or I'm a traitor and the community doesn't claim me. (Remember when Democrats were just as pro-DOMA only a decade ago? Me too.)

I'm libertarian-left as well (democratic socialist) even though I am strongly opposed to all the ultrawoke TQ stuff going on. I also don't like liberal feminism or the whole racial/sex quotas thing.
