Yes, as a bisexual, can confirm this to be true. I let people know I’m bi by parting my hair down the middle, instead of on either the left or right side. /s

Hair is a large part of our identity.

Speak for yourself.

And for LGBTQ+ youth like Sawyer, who choose to express themselves, their style, & their creativity through their hair style, it can help them feel seen.

Just say trans instead of LGBTQ+. What does a hairstyle have to do with being LGB? Right, nothing. Hair is a huge fucking deal for trans people because they're trying to "pass" as another sex.

For LGBTQ+ kids, hair is more than how you look.

No it's not. Even for trans people, it's about how you look.

Excuse you OP!!11 Since I was very small everyone told me that me having long hair "was gay." Are you telling me this is NOT how it works???

I refuse to cut my hair short even as an adult, because I am scared of vaginas and being straight would be unfamiliar territory. The same reason I can't get into manly sports or wear manly clothes. If I do I will be UNGAYED.

50 something years ago, in a small, grungy hair salon in Chelsea, nyc, LGB youth were getting their hair styled, desperately hoping this would not be a night with yet another raid by the fashion police. This night would be different, however, as LGB youth would rise up against those elements of society that would tell them how to wear their hair, and the gay hair civil rights movement was born.

There is some debate as to who threw the first tub of hair gel, many saying it was Martha, others saying it was Storme. Either way, we in the alphabet community would like to thank pantene pro for acknowledging just how far we have come in the decades long fight for decent hair.

I wrote, rewrote and deleted several snarky comments about how I don't give a fuck about what my hair is doing so I mostly just buzz it all off and pretend I'm like, a marine or some shit (too fat for the marines lol) but none of them got the message right.

Pantene, stay in your lane. Your tagline should be

Who gives a shit, we all have hair! Pantene make it purty.

Oh shit, what's the pre-approved lesbian hair style again? My hair might have gotten too long and crossed into bisexual or, even worse, straight territory!

Then that means you are a straight bi lesbian, obviously! Your hair is so valid uwu

My hair is straight, but I'm not lol

This is vile. Absolute mind poison. Where was the space for this kid to be gender non-conforming in his own way? This strict fkn binary that equates long hair to girls is the problem - and here they are celebrating the newest way to erase these kinds of kids. So many of these insipid "accepting" christian families would rather a transsexual daughter than a gay son. Theocratic IRAN has frikkin policies like these!!

What is this "hair" you speak of?

Is that the stuff that grows on your chest?

Uh, isn't this kid a bit old to have their mother comb their hair? If they're gonna be a 'girl' and have long hair, they should learn how to take care of it by themselves.

I don't even own a comb for my hair. I've got a beard brush, but it doesn't work on the rest of my hair. I really wish they'd stop making such blanket statements as these

God, the replies give me life. No one is happy about it.

My hair is pretty shitty at the moment. But totally normal.. Shouldr lenght and boring brown. God, do you mean I'm straight?

As usual, I agree with the trans folks. Cutting my hair 13 years ago was both a racial and "gender" decision for me as a black butch. My girlfriend cried because I looked "more manly" as she put it. She wanted me to look like a soft butch. Ugh 😒

Nowadays, "the big chop" is so common among (young) straight black women and nonblack lesbians.

Hm, LGB is now about looks? There is some wrong way to look gay or lesbian?

Dammit, do I have to be the one to make this joke:

"Pantene Pro-V, more like Pro-T, amirite?"

I think we all know who's making the choices about Sawyer and his "gender identity" here.
