Cis straight gay men.

What?

Because we aren't queer enough "like a gay man should be" because the only thing gay about us is that we're gay. We aren't actually special, so we're basically straight to them

That's my impression, too. I also think that the "transbians" (who are of course running the show) can't abide gay men because:

  • they don't wanna fuck ya, so what use are you, anyway?
  • related to the above: not being female-attracted (unlike the L and the B), you can't provide that all-important VALIDATION = you're disposable.
  • as dress-wearing dudes in a RuPaul's Drag Race world, they're TERRIFIED of being taken for drag queens themselves... and thus for gay men. Since that'd put an end to their precious "I'm a LAY-DEE!" fantasy. So you guys are collectively on their shit-list for producing the likes of Trixie Mattell.
  • to them, "hating men" proves that they're Real LesbiansTM , but naturally they don't dare direct that ire at STRAIGHT guys (who wouldn't stand for it, plus these "trans" dudes are of course straight themselves)... so you're the safe "smash-the-patriarchy!!!" option.

I'm a straight gay man. I don't like drag race or going to Pride or (insert 500 other stereotypes here) so I MUST be straight, but I also like sucking dick.

When you're a young, aspiring, intersectionalist trying to spin new castes tiers of oppression but get confused along the way.

As a gay man I’m fine with this. I want nothing to do with transgenders, gender specials, straight women who identify as bi or queer, or straight men with autogynophilia. We gay men who are normal should have our own spaces just for us. Bisexual men who aren’t trans can come along as well. We'll call ourselves the GBM (Gay and Bisexual Men) community. No transgenders allowed.

Oh wait, we’re not allowed to have spaces to ourselves. We’re not even allowed to have anything. Just be slaves. Not that we’re going to let these artificial limitations imposed upon us by neoliberals and woke idiots stop us from setting up our GBM spaces. Lesbians and bisexual women should set up their LBW community spaces as well.

I recommend blue for male, red for attraction to males and black for super.

I literally laughed out loud. My bad. I do get why "cis" gay men may be pushed out... economically, gay men are at the top, slightly above men with wives, according to the statusofwomen website. Wealth is more important than anything else in our classist/capitalistic society.

The median annual earnings for women who live with a same-sex partner ($48,000) are considerably lower than those of men who live with a same-sex partner ($58,000) and lower than married men in different-sex households ($56,000), but higher than earnings for married women in different-sex households ($42,000) and women who live in a cohabiting relationship with a different sex partner ($33,000). Women living with a same-sex partner also have higher earnings than men cohabiting with a different-sex partner ($38,000).

it has to do with intersectionality so white and male are two strikes against you. one if you are a poc so there is that. victim status is the currency for the alphabets.

[–][deleted] 14 insightful - 4 fun14 insightful - 3 fun15 insightful - 4 fun -  (2 children)

But why would a bisexual man have more oppression currency than a gay man?

THE OPPRESSION CURRENCY MAKES NO SENSE. Make it stop, please.

Bisexual men can sleep with the T and the Q, while gay men cannot. So it’s not that bisexuals are seen as more oppressed than us, but they’re more liked by the woke crowd than us.

[–]xanditAGAB (Assigned Gay at Birth) 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

some bisexuals might argue they re more misunderstood in society so therfore more oppressed?

Intersectionalists are cancer.

[–]hufflepuff-poet 15 insightful - 2 fun15 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I hate how intersectionality has been twisted by TQ+ from a tool used to highlight the unique combination of racism and sexism that black women and other women of color face to being about centering straight males in feminism and LGB spaces 😒🤦🏾‍♀️. All trans ever does is co-opt, manipulate, gaslight and destroy.

[–]PassionateIntensity 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

It was originally devised as a way for black women to talk about how they faced both racism and sexism to different degrees depending on circumstances. Now I have no fucking clue what it means beyond 'you're below (above) me, shut up so I can dominate you.'

[–]kwallio 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Intersectionality has become the oppression olympics, more or less. Or used to justify the oppression olympics. Its become a joke.

[–]ChodeSandwichtender and moist 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

"Currency" implies that there's a system of trade in place. It's more like "if you aren't a beer-swilling caricature of a straight white guy, your job is to fret about trans people and carry their bags at all times ..... and the blacks' too, I guess."

[–]Lessom 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Safe space that includes the T and a homophobic slur? As if that exists.

[–]szalinskikidproblematic androphile 14 insightful - 2 fun14 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

To cite a certain Mr. Palpatine: DO IT.

For the love of god, please drop us gays, free us 😭in a way, we "cis gays" are privileged compared to the lesbians, because they will NEVER let those go... but for real: I don't care if WE drop the T or the T drops us. I really don't. A separation of sexual orientation and gender identity is the only viable solution to the problem and that's all that matters. Let's go Ls and Bs, show them how nasty and unpleasant we are and let them think it was their idea to break up!

[–]PassionateIntensity 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Like lesbians or bisexuals would side with them.

The saddest, most pathetic thing about transmen is how they're treated as a joke and an afterthought by transwomen. It's almost as if transmen are women and transwomen are men...

[–]ChodeSandwichtender and moist 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

LGB stands for Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual. This term is important as a signifier for a safe space without heterosexual people. (This does not exclude trans people who are homo/bisexual.) Privilege affects all of us in different ways . . .

[–]Virginia_Plain 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I'd really be fine about this, I do think lumping all of us into a big alphabet soup is counter productive. The idea of an LGBTQIAP+ community is unworkable; it's a grab bag of people who are "different," but also different from each other in important ways. It's like saying there is a POC community or a religion community.

What's weird is the fury at gay men (at, say, Camp Boomerang) setting aside space for themselves. You don't want The Cis Gays taking up space, you think they're obnoxious and overprivileged and misogynist and yet them basically disappearing from your radar and doing their own thing is intolerable? Same for MichFest.

The articles about Camp Boomerang kept bringing up commentary from pissed off transmen and their supporters saying they would go to Campit or the other "queer" campgrounds instead. Great! Have fun! Everyone wins! I'm not saying this sarcastically at all.

[–]ChunkeeguyTeam T*RF Fuck Yeah[S] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Except that they won't because it's all about them feeling validated. Every one of these studs needs their maleness hotness validated by attending Camp Boomerang.

Yeah, I know, it's part of the illness. The lengths to which people go for control over others is astonishing. I'm predicting there's going to be a rollout of media campaigns to "re-educate" people about their own sexualities, in the vein of anti-drug school programs, commercials and storylines in television shows. The "Shameless" transman plotline was just that...all of the queer characters had open contempt for the gay character, and the script was written to show him as a clueless, bumbling idiot who had "a lot to learn." The audience was clearly supposed to empathize with the trans character shooting down his reasons for not wanting to hook up, which was surprising considering how unlikeable and condescending the trans character was. From what I've heard from others who watched the show more closely, it was very out of character for him too. He was basically re-written r the purposes that plotline.

[–]chazzstrong 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Ah, so they can have a 'safe space' away from gay men, but lesbians can't have a 'safe space' away from transwomen?
See, they don't even need to hide their bullshit anymore. They can be as hypocritical and nonsensical as they want, because anyone who dares to point this out is immediately smeared and dog-piled on.
We need some real shit to go down. Like biblical 'end of days' shit, or a zombie apocalypse or SOMETHING to cull the weak from this earth.

I'd rather they exclude the L out of that shitty acronym so it can join the G also and be rid of the loony TQ+

As a lesbian I feel safer around "cis" gay men than transwomen and transmen
