They need to creat a category just for Sam: Narcissist of the Year, Male or Female.

But ... but ... he is neither male nor female?!

That would be so invalidating of his non-binary identity.

Reality is so bigoted. I can't fathom how we are all surviving in such a cruel world.

Sam Smith: I want to exclude myself from the award categories.

Also Sam Smith: Hey, why am I not included in the award categories?

What did he expect? To be nominated for the non-binary award that he'd just win by default?

I guess he hoped that the categories "best male/female" would be nuked, and everyone would be nominated in just one big category.

With how awful his music actually is, compared to people with real talent, that would just mean that he is competing with twice as many people for only one award. - And in the end it would probably result in mainly men winning. I don't want this to sound like "all men suck"!! But the Academy Awards have the category "best director" and you can go and check how often that award was won by a woman in the last 92 years.

I honestly think there should be a best female director, especially since so many get snubbed in favour of mediocre/famous male directors.

True.

But I am predicting that the left and lib-fems would screech that this is just proof that women are made to believe they are not good enough to compete against men in such categories. - When it's just like you mentioned. Mediocre men win before extraordinaire women get even nominated.

It's not that they're not good enough, it's just that they don't have a chance against men, just like in almost every other industry. There's a reason why male and female actors have separate awards. Men would get best actor every time, that's just the reality of the situation. Think of music awards. How many all female bands have won awards as opposed to all male bands? How many female bands outside of the nineties and early 2000s can you name off the top of your head?

Also, every time someone says there's no good female directors, I think of Agnes Varda in her little potato suit and cry.

(Edit, sent too soon)

Exactly. Unisex categories typically have more male nominees and therefore more male winners. Fuck that.

With how awful his music actually is

This is where I'm still stuck at. Sam hasn't had a good song since 2015.

His "Diamonds" is so awful. Most songs with a snap/clap track like his is usually just so lazy and derivative; made for the lowest common denominator. His stuff is on level with all that pop-country garbage. If people like it, that's fine but it's so bland.

A Brit awards spokesperson later responded, saying: “Sam is an extraordinary British artist and we agree with what they have said today. The Brits are committed to evolving the show and the gendered categories are very much under review. But any changes made to be more inclusive need to be just that - if a change unintentionally leads to less inclusion then it risks being counterproductive to diversity and equality. We need to consult more widely before changes are made to make sure we get it right.”

Yes

'They' who plays stupid games, wins stupid prizes.

I think I hurt my eyes reading that article. People twisting themselves into a pretzel to avoid calling a guy a guy.

Ugh. He's managed to work himself into a corner where he "wins" no matter what happens. They can change the rules for him and make him the center of attention, they can make a brand new category just for nawnbinareeez and make him the center of attention, or he gets to whine and sob about feeling excluded and become the center of attention. So childish.

How about the "I Deserve an Award Category"? Anyone may nominate anyone else, including themselves, and every nominee wins!

So not only is he a narcissist, a whiner and a bad singer, Sam Smith is also extremely difficult to please.

The male or female categories are supposed to reflect sex, not gender identity. Technically a male could be included in the male category regardless of 'gender identity' but I suspect they are afraid of 'misgendering' and causing offence.

Silly cow. He's fucked himself over and I can't laugh hard enough about it.
