This article is really, really homophobic/biphobic. Hands down. Here's the cycle:

  • Liberal homophobes parrot the claim: "Sexual orientation is a fun lifestyle! Being gay makes you eMoTiOnAlLy iNtElLigEnT!"

  • Teens and "woke" far-left people all start calling themselves gay for social kudos. Rates of "LGBTQ+ people" skyrocket.

  • Conservative homophobes: "Look, see, it is a fad! It is a lifestyle! There's no genetic basis for it!"

And on and on. We are such a tiny minority, statistically, that it is easy for straight people to claim to be LGB, colonize our spaces, and then kick us out and shame us again.

I loathe the "LGBTQ+" movement. It is built on homophobia. No I am not "proud" about the fact that I am same-sex-attracted, I am proud to be HONEST about my same-sex-attraction-- which is the very thing that the "LGBTQ+" movement is trying to shame by calling it a "genital fetish"!

The author is heavily religious and his personal blog is filled with nonsensical writings about how Christianity and religion in general aren't dying, are still relevant, etc. He's got a vested interest in LGB being a "choice" so that the religious right can get back to promoting conversion therapy.

We know that homosexuality is a naturally occurring phenomenon because there is lots of evidence of it occurring throughout the animal kingdom. See: Biological Exuberance by Bruce Bagemihl. This isn't up for debate at this point, except by people who'd like an excuse to proclaim same-sex-attraction as wicked and evil.

We also know that transgenderism is rooted not in an innate way someone is born, but is rather a phenomenon that is based as a coping mechanism for dealing with underlying trauma, self-identity issues/dysphoria, and to engage and force others to engage with one's autogynephilia. People who try to claim that transgenderism is in any way relevant to the LGB rights movement are trying to tie their homophobic, reality-denialism movement to one that is actually important and successful as a result of decades of hard-fought campaigning. The "queer" umbrella frankly needs to be burned to the fucking ground.

Even still, the bisexual number increased so much in comparison to the L and G because it's so easy for spicy straights to just opt into the label.

Whatever is going on in society that is turning young people into lying attention whores who even lie to themselves needs to stop. (All generations have this issue, but the internet amplified this IDENTITY shit to such a degree...)

the statistics would be entirely different if it was just about LG. Let's not forget that B is a huge ally of T and Q Everyone and their mother is bisexual these days. But the vast majority of bisexuals (talking about women here but it's the same for men) are in straight relationships and indistinguishable from straight people. Except when they want to scream about how oppressed they are while being in het relationships

Didn't read past: The new data tell us people are simply becoming more elastic in how they view their sexuality and gender. And if sexuality is elastic, that has huge implications.

I've always believed the percentages of gay and bi people in the world is much higher than studies/polls/census indicate. Heternormativity is detrimental to everyone, even straight people. We are all suffering because the world seems to be so heterosexual when it's likely only 50% heterosexual. In other words, heterosexuality is the choice... people are forcing themselves to be straight, and they are miserable as hell.
