What's really interesting is that she desperately wants to be part of the community.

They will never understand this! My dream for the future was for LGB to be seen as normal and boring as being left-handed or curly haired or green eyed. Just a random difference no one cares about. This way we wouldn't even need a community at all because the whole world would be our community.

Scientists really need to study this mentality that makes some people want to become the most oppressed uniquest specialest snowflake victim. It's like they want negative and positive attention at the same time. I'm not verbalizing it right. Like they want a specific kind of attention for being a victim and they want the privileges and coddling that comes with this special victim status. But even we actual LGB have never gotten this treatment, it's all fantasy.

They want to be part of a group that is perceived by society as victimized but not actually victimized that much by society.

And I think this is the thing, they are teens that want to feel special, part of a community, and crave attention, the way teens do regularly. But now subcultures are basically dead, or I feel it’s seen as a bit lame to be part of one, like emos that are made fun of a lot these days as well.

I have this hypothesis that all these kids have some variety of the Truman Syndrome. Like they believe their lives must be filled with adversity for them to overcome and be the hero of their own story. And if these adversities don't come, they are manufactured. As you've said: this is all fantasy.

LGB to be seen as normal and boring as being left-handed

Amusing because left-handedness is more prevalent in L and G folk than heterosexuals.

I'm honestly kind of low-key butthurt that there isn't a special club for left-handed people. We just sort of... exist.

The pseudo-self-awareness and equivocating in this post is painfully female lmao. You can't identify out of socialization.

Wow, she's actually self-aware! Tempted to make a throwaway and suggest therapy... not gender therapy, to be clear.

I sometimes wish I wasn't attracted to men so I'd actually have some justification to call myself LGBT

Why though? What is the motivation behind this desire to be 'LGBT'? I'll bet she's never asked herself why being 'LGBT' is so important to her. I'm sure she's struggling with multiple issues and I wish her the best but it's really hard for me to feel sorry for her. Because it's clear she sees us like the cool kids club at school. We aren't a club, and having your sexuality constantly called gross, fake, unnatural, etc really isn't something you should try to identify into. Not having the same rights as straight people in some parts of the world isn't 'fun' or 'trendy'. It's a shame it took her almost 8 years for her to realize she was being creepy.

Blame tumblr for that... they would glamorize the LGBT community and say shit like "ewww you are straight!"

And for young impressionable teenage girls that wish to be accepted and loved that can leave a mark on your idea of yourself... so yea

Since you just moved out of your childhood home, it sounds like at least one thing that was holding you back has been eliminated. Have you had any better opportunities to continue your transition in the last several years? Do you expect better opportunities to appear any time soon? Because if not, now seems like the best time to keep moving things along. It's not just about living authentically or being true to yourself or whatever. It's also a healthcare need and not transitioning is, as such, a form of self-harm.

Definitely should not take any advice from this person. They are clearly not listening to what she is saying. Her illusions are breaking down right now. She should let them collapse already. And get away from these illusion enabling people.

I just hope she gets the help she so clearly needs.

...and not the mindless trans validation "help", which just slows the process of coming to terms with reality and just feeds the gender dysphoria of being unable to transition yet still wanting to be a man so desperately.

....it's a shame they lack any self awareness, otherwise they might notice that they just realized their problem: they want to feel special.

they want to feel special

They should try being non-Woke. That seems to be the most marginal of all groups among the under 25s. Of course, then they actually would be persecuted.
