probably. It's hard to tell based on straight mens' conversations and jokes what is ever going on. And it may end up doing more harm than good if female-attracted men pretended to be homosexual, because they may end up giving transmen "evidence" that gay men ought to be attracted to them.

Straight men prefer the women they deal with, not to have obsessions of actually being a male. Transmen (women) are on a lot of hormones, which cause mustache growth, etc. Long story short, heterosexual men don't want to be with women who have severely altered their appearance & behavior to look & be male.

Bingo. It's not just uncanny valley, but contradictory uncanny valley. I sort of feel bad for transmen. Gay men and straight women don't want them because they're, well, women, physically (turn off during sex), and straight men don't want them because they look like and try to be like men (turn off before sex). Honestly i think it's people with a sea of mental health issues that are untreated and instead of needed therapy they get hormones. Anyone who has ever had an illness that messed with your hormones like thyroid issues knows it can makes you a little nuts.

I would guess it's the distinction between insults and threats. I think a lot of FTM resort to insults and slurs (especially f----t), whereas MTF resort to threats of violence and r--e. Both are vile, but it creates distinct genres of malice.

That's a great observation! It's true, insults vs threats are a world of difference. I feel like it's something else too though, like word choice and sentence style. It's weird. Like I used to love fanfiction, and could always tell if a story was written by a man or woman. Same way I can usually tell when a woman character is written by a man, and I'm guessing men can tell the same about men characters written by women. It's just different in some way! I don't know what it is!

Oh I 100% agree. Reading through those threads is like poison for the mind. They're really corrosive.
