b/c for these people, their ENTIRE life and sense of self is based around them identifying as whichever alphabet person they decide to be. You see it in who they associate with, their social media posts, how they dress, how they behave in public, etc. It is an all consuming thing. It gets to the point where it is almost ALL they talk about and the worst part is they try and convert others. If that aspect of their lives is "fixed", their entire lives get turned upside down. They remind me of recovering addicts who CONSTANTLY go on about their sobriety, the struggle, etc, etc. and tell everyone else who likes having a drink that they're alcoholics who need help. They don't want to be fixed b/c this is their entire being.
