I'm for basic rights to everyone. No one should lose their job or their house for changing their bodies or dressing in a gender non conforming way.

But this discussion turned very quickly into things like "same sex attraction is transphobic". If this is considered transphobic, then whatever.

It depends on what the job is: if a transgender identified male is a TSA screener, or in another job where a woman will be forced to allow him to touch her private areas, and if the law prevents the woman from asking for a female screener, that's going to be objectionable to many people.

Same with a female TSA screener being forced to pat down a transgender identified male passenger.

This already happened at a New York area airport in the last year or two - a transgender identified male made a big stink about not wanting a male TSA screener, which would then force a female screener to touch his privates.

And again, LGB will be blamed.

I am old enough to remember when slurs against gays in the US were slurs in general, implying dirtiness, pedophilia, insanity, etc. ,- when women are forced to let male strangers feel them up or not get to fly, I fear those slurs, and worse, like gay-bashing, will be back.

I mean, yeah, I was talking about more general situations. And what I meant wasn't even only about TQ+ people. Lots of LGB people are also afraid of losing their jobs because they present themselves in a way that doesn't conform to gender stereotypes.

That's a hard thing about nowadays, you have to account for these specific situations. I remember years ago when people could easily say they support basic rights, while also being against the presence of transwomen in female sports. This wasn't considered controversial or transphobic.

I don't know if you're in the US, but laws have been passed protecting homosexuals (I often no longer use "gay" because the genderists have made the term meaningless with their claim of transgender lesbians, etc.) in terms of employment.

I think people new to this issue (and I'm not saying that you are!) don't realize how institutions, corporations and governments across the world have already been captured, extremely stealthily, by the gender lobby. By the time most people wake up, it will be too late.

In Argentina, in Canada, in Mexico, in Ireland and other countries, the genderists have won.

And now the Democrats are trying to pass anti-gay, anti-women, pro-TQ+ Equality Act in the US on a federal level (they've passed similar laws already on some local and state levels) - so soon the US will join the Brave New World of Gender Uber Alles.

If you're in the US, call your congresspeople NOW and say I'm gay/bi and I say NO to the Equality Act - or lose your rights. It's that simple.

I'm not American. Could you expand on why the Equality Act (or any other recent acts) is anti-LGB? I tried googling about these acts that the subs has been criticizing, but it's hard to understand since, first, most sources won't care about how anything impacts LGB people anyway, and second, I'm not aware enough of how some American systems might work.

The Equality Act changes the legal definition of "sex" to include "gender identity," which has no real definition beyond vague phrases that often rely on sex role stereotypes.

For instance, Facebook offered 50 gender identities in the US and 70 or so gender identities in the UK. The UK's BBC just had a video it was pimping to kids that claimed 100 gender identities. How can we legislate based on gender identity when no one knows what it is, no one can describe it accurately, and so no one knows how many there are?

We pretty much each have our own gender identities. It's called a personality.

To make things worse, some (if not all - I'm not a lawyer so I don't know) of the laws protecting gays in the US are on the basis of sex, once "sex" legally includes the nebulous term "gender identity" who and what are those laws protecting?

Here is a very good site on the Equality Act's impact on women's rights. Some of it applies to gay men too so I would suggest Americans check it out and then take action - Call Congress, say you're LGB and say NO to the Equality Act.
