One of the replies had a good point, the left has been surviving and not eating itself these last 4 years only due to hatred of Trump. Ironically, his mere existence kept the left alive and now that he's gone, Biden is attacking women everywhere.

Yeah I agree. I am pretty left and would love to see some actual progress on policies-- Medicare for All, for example. But instead everyone was just like "Trump bad!" and wouldn't focus on finding solutions beyond that.

this just shows that hatred is one of the most powerful emotions and can more easily make people get along than other things

They thought that in itself was a solution.

Bret Weinstein seems to have a sizeable following among conservatives, and he denounced Biden's recent executive order that supports the homophobic gender identity ideology. While I don't think we can assume that everyone who opposes gender identity ideology is supportive of LGB rights, I think this is a good sign because Bret may likely be willing to have open conversations about gender identity ideology.

Many of you have probably seen videos from Benjamin Boyce shared on this sub, particularly his work interviewing detransitioners; Boyce was a student at Evergreen where Weinstein was a professor, when some far-left protests went down (led, in fact, by a "trans lesbian" named Jamil).

I didn’t realize that the leader of the evergreen madness was a transbian. It does make sense though.

It doesn’t surprise me at all.

Yup, or at least one of the leaders. I dunno how much you have followed it but I watched some of Benjamin's videos and in the footage, Jamil refers to himself as a "trans black femme"... as in a femme lesbian.

Hah! I first heard of LGBDropTheT through the comment section of one of Boyce's videos, and I first heard of Boyce through YouTube's recommendation algorithm after watching Matt Christiansen's videos on Evergreen. It's funny how these things all fit together.

On a different note, Bret Weinstein seems like a reasonable enough guy that I'm surprised he was ever onboard with queer theory, let alone a vocal proponent of it.

[–][deleted] 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Bret Weinstein seems like a reasonable enough guy that I'm surprised he was ever onboard with queer theory,

The post title; I think they must have meant the Evergreen college. Not Brett Weinstein, I've watched quite a few of his podcasts, him and queer theory are antithetical.

I've read a bunch of queer theory. There's some good tidbits in there, but it relies on an overreach of social constructionism and its activism ends up being profoundly illiberal.

What did I see on twitter yesterday? "The two groups of people who think homosexuality is a social construct are religious conservatives and queer theorists."

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you.

Oh really!! That's awesome!

Wait, maybe that's actually one of the best places to post about our sub-- on these videos we're linking. I've been trying to think of good ways to spread the word on Reddit but maybe this is actually a far better way, seeing as people on Boyce's videos (for example) are far more likely to be interested in our movement than the average Redditor.

If Republicans could leave gay marriage alone (say what's done is done), then they'd reach a deal with a lot of centrists.

However the religious right wouldn't let that one go. Basically both parties have aspects holding them back but seemingly have a lot of power. (Religious right and liberal feminism/identity politics).

It's a sad state of affairs, I dunno American politics is set up but anyone with an iota of clout and also sensible in the middle policies would shit it in.

[–]insta 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Nothing is ever happening to gay marriage. Neocons just pander to the religious right because they are morons who will keep showing up to vote after the establishment gives them nothing but crumbs.

These are the same people that showed up in droves to vote for a porn star fucking adulterer. These people are morons and the establishment right will do nothing like trying to take down gay marriage because that would be political suicide.

Because conservatives are so desperate for anyone vaguely on the left who just won't dismiss them as racist and move on. It's quite pathetic.

Bret Weinstein is a guy who has seen the absolute insanity of the far-left identity madness firsthand and doesn’t have a single shit left to give.

[–]reluctant_commenter[S] 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah he is. I noticed from looking who his twitter that he seems comfortable with calling out extremes on both sides. I have guarded hope that he will prevail as a voice of reason in the debate about transgender ideology.

This exchange made me laugh.

kulture says: But we have the technology which negates many of the “just” protections we use to have. Guns put us in a plain playing field, for example

Saren replies: Arming women athletes so they can compete against trans women athletes... Now that's a take I haven't heard before.

Guns put us in a plain playing field, for example

Wait, so they'll give huge does of male hormone to female athletes to compete against men in makeup?

I for one would have no problem letting female athletes go open season on fuckheads like Fallon Fox.

"C'mon ma'am!" - Joe Biden, 2021.

That is the FUNNIEST thing I've heard this week. Not funny actually, because too close to real, but perfect.

Have they changed the acronym yet to LGBTQ+DNC ? Maybe that's what he's going for.

[–]RedEyedWarriorGay | Male | 🇮🇪 Irish 🇮🇪 | Antineoliberal | Cocks are Compulsory 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Honestly, it would not surprise me if the acronym was changed to LGBT+DNC. It seems like the LGBT establishment is pretending that the Democrats are the only party LGB Americans should vote for. Not saying that the Republicans are better than the Democrats, or that there are people with actual spines in the Libertarian Party. But if the GOP decides to support gay marriage and condemn homophobia in their federal manifesto, then the Dems will lose a quarter or even a third of their LGB base.

Whenever people tell me that the left isn't out of hand, I point them to the Evergreen fiasco. This man had bomb threats sent to his family because he had the gall to say he thought there were better ways to talk about racism than forcing all white people to leave campus for the day? It just doesn't make any sense. And the man's a liberal democrat, or at least was before all this.

Of course, they still equivocate even about this, which shows just how far gone they are. Extremists on both sides are just denying facts left and right (no pun intended, lmao). Nuance, people, that's where truth lives. Not in ideological purity.

P.S. How does it not surprise me that a transbian was one of the orchestrators of this madness?

[–]insta 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Of course, they still equivocate even about this

People keep on repeating the lie that this stuff is just limited to a few crazies on college campuses.

No, these people have thoroughly infiltrated corporate America. To handwave this away as some silly girls with pink hair on some liberal arts campus is to deny reality.

[–]BEB 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

The Democratic party too - it's completely under the thrall of Gender Madness.

[–]insta 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I think that problem will really manifest itself in 10-20 years. Right now there's too many boomers at the top running things for stuff to get out of hand. But once all the biden's and pelosi's are gone shit is gonna get real.

It's gonna be interesting to see which party dissolves first the Dems or the GOP. The GOP will be unelected after Texas goes blue by 2030~ish but the Dems will just have so many conflicting interests it's hard to see them remaining solvent.

Not really related but I have never met anyone who went to evergreen college and didn't come out trans and poly. Idk what goes on there but it's madness.

    [–]reluctant_commenter[S] 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Have you met many people from there? edit: Just curious, as it's one specific college, not that I don't believe you! Also Benjamin Boyce and Bret Weinstein and his wife (who was also a professor there) don't seem to be either so that's 3 people haha.

    [–]blahblahgcer 15 insightful - 5 fun15 insightful - 4 fun16 insightful - 5 fun -  (1 child)

Yeah, my former best friend went there, along with a few other people I knew. It's not very popular for people to go to tbh, it has like a 100% acceptance rate and isn't great academically. But I know a couple TQ people who went there even though they had scholarships for other state schools. One of them went in a lesbian and is now a gay man.

    [–]reluctant_commenter[S] 11 insightful - 4 fun11 insightful - 3 fun12 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

I do know one person who didn't, but that was a while ago. She was, however, a complete grifter who managed to use her minority identity to avoid any consequences from repeated, documented instances of plagiarism and cheating on exams in the graduate program she attended after Evergreen, and didn't see to have any moral qualms about any of it. My dad used to be a hiring manager at his workplace, and he said Evergreen applicants were always interesting because you had to interview them, their resumes were never really clear. And that 95% of the time they were clearly unqualified idiots, but they were always entertaining to interview because they tended to be quite weird, and that occasionally he'd find somebody who actually was a really unique thinker who was worth hiring. He also said that if I ever wanted to go there he wouldn't waste a cent on it, so I would be on my own (I did not want to go there).

    [–]blahblahgcer 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

    Wow, that's pretty bad.

Somehow it's even worse than I thought it was. Wtf goes on down there??

    [–][deleted] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

OP, is the Evergreen college steeped in queer theory, or was Weinstein a proponent of it at one time?

    [–]reluctant_commenter[S] 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Evergreen College was an early proponent of Queer Theory, but not Weinstein, as far as I am aware. I have never actually heard Weinstein's position on it; he does not seem like he supports critical theory (queer theory's parent) or Critical Race Theory.

    [–][deleted] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Okay, that was my impression too, thanks for the clarification. We got a bit confused elsewhere in the comments.

I listened to this guy's podcast once where he had on Chloe Valdary. Very interesting fellow with a wealth of ideas. I do believe he could almost interview himself with all that he knows.
