Unfortunately, her CrowdFunding page got taken down ("transphobia") so I will link to Women's Place UK which has the text originally posted to it: https://womansplaceuk.org/2020/06/27/i-am-suing-stonewall-stop-policing-free-speech/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

I am still trying to make sure I understand exactly what happened. It looks like Bailey's organization (a "barrister"? I am not well versed in legal stuff) signed on to join Stonewall somehow. Bailey posted on Twitter criticisms of Stonewall's goals and, specifically, defended the definition of biological sex. Stonewall then:

  • a) pressured other organizations to file complaints against Bailey for "transphobia"

  • b) eventually filed a complaint against her themselves for that reason, and

  • c) refused to comply with freedom-of-information laws for a while about the complaints (and still have not fully complied?).

Sounds sketchy, and I'd love more detail if anyone's got insight.

Also, I can't believe these organizations like Stonewall are supposed to represent LGB people. Fuck that.

I will be following this. Much love and support to my fellow lesbian lawyer bae across the pond. The genderists absolutely do not want public attention called to this case because it inconveniently calls attention to the fact that they’re projecting when they claim that biological sex is an invention of white colonialism.

Also, would love to see some kind of debate between the likes of Allison Bailey and the face-changing narcissist who goes by Munro Bergdorf. And if I could submit a topic, it would be “Rachel Dolezal.” Does Munro think that if Rachel Dolezal were a White man pretending to be a black woman, public discussion would now look very different? Or would self ID as a woman claim be not only accepted but respected and revered?

Nice to have an update with the court dates.

As I recall the funding got to £48k until they disabled the page. Supporters of the lawsuit came down on them for that until they re-enabled the crowd funder some time later, when it promptly maxed out. Bailey wanted to increase the stretch goal because it was doing so well that day, but CrowdJustice would have none of that. Stonewall got to them. I think it could've gotten to £100k, easy.

Just curious, do they lose access to the money that was already raised because the page got taken down?

No.

The crowdfunder raised £48,000 within six hours. However, CrowdJustice then removed the page following complaints about some of the content. It has now been reinstated along with a statement from CrowdJustice’s CEO, Julia Salasky, stating that “we allowed Ms Bailey’s CrowdJustice case page to launch before ensuring its content in its entirety met the high standards that our community expects of us… We have had complaints about some of the content of Allison Bailey’s case page and because of the serious nature of the complaints we followed our policy to take the page down while it was reviewed in detail against our terms”. Althgouh Allison met her target and a total of £60,050 has now been raised for her cause, the platform refused to allow her to raise her goal as it does with other funding pages. The barrister explained on Twitter that neither the removal of her page or the changes made to it when it was republished were done with her permission or knowledge.

However, CrowdJustice have confirmed that the £60,050 pledged will be transferred to Allison Bailey’s solicitors’ client account and all of it will be used for her legal fees.
