Their "ancient stories" I think tally to some mythological woman who was raped by a god and then turned into a man and some spy in the 18th or whatever century who dressed as a woman to spy on Russia.

Yeah, they always love to ignore the fact that most of what their stories from ancient times involve one or more rapes in the process, heavily implying that these ancient people saw trauma as the only reason someone might want to undergo such a transformation.

Trauma and/or being literally cursed. I'm not a mythology buff but I can't think of a single sex transformation story that was embraced or seen as a gift. There are happier endings about people being turned into trees and constellations, FFS...

I believe there was one where Posiden r@ped a woman and then offered her a wish, she wished to have the body of a man so that she'd never go through anything like what Posiden did to her again and then apparently Posiden kept visiting this woman in a man's body?

I remember seeing a post of TRAs saying this proves how "progressive" they were in ancient times and there was a discussion here about it. I can't be sure about its legitimacy as a myth, though

Sounds like a reasoning of many "he/they" transmen or nonbinary women, as they are often "I want to be anything, but the woman, I want escape this pressure".

I remember one Roman myth, about a girl named Iphis. Her parents couldn't afford a daughter, so while the mother was still pregnant, the father decided to kill the child if born a girl. When she was born, the mother raised her as a boy so that she could live. Eventually she was arranged to be married to another woman, and even fell in love, but marriage between two women was "impossible" so she prayed to a goddess and was transformed into a man.

And this sounds like another reason of many teen girls deciding to go transmen, as by Tavistock data - around 40% of girls transitioned there named reason of transition either "I like girls" or "I like girls and boys".

At least in the former case, maybe we could term this disturbing phenomenon "Iphism"?

Or characters like Mulan(who only did it to get into the all male army). Basically every character who was ngc at some point is free real estate for transing.
