The key to understanding US politics is to realising that they don't have a left-wing party. They have a right-wing party and another right-wing party. It's voting for which flavour of neo-liberal corruption you want. Do you want new style corporate suit evil or traditional capes and fangs evil.

Truth be told, communist party is almost always right-winged, focused on control, self enrichment, dictatorship methods, censorship and similar means, while it is people under them are told to become left and share their goods. Famous phrase here: "Under capitalism people are exploiting other people - while under communism it is the other way around".

Most communism regimes are this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_capitalism - country is a company, and people are workers for it, or more like property of it.

When party is main beneficiar and party members are rich, while everyone else is "equally poor and equally rightless" - such equality was in every communist country that ever been on Earth.
