I'm confused, is this person actually saying that it's good for you to identify with a sexuality because it's "cool to do so" despite your sexuality not actually being what you identify as? In what way is lying to yourself about your sexuality a good thing?

Correct. The LGBTQ+ movement in its current form encourages people to "identify" as being a member of a demographic group based on whether they feel that they are members of that demographic group. This is pure nonsense, because being a member of a demographic group does not feel like anything. However, impressionable kids and people who already struggle to tell what their emotions and bodily sensations are (e.g. due to having autism spectrum disorder, extensive trauma, etc.) are likely to believe it anyway, not knowing otherwise.
