DiscussionDoes LGB Alliance know about us? And if not, should we reach out to them?

Haven't seen this discussed so I figured I'd ask.

Here's my thought process. There were about 20k subscribers to r/lgbdropthet before the ban (correct me if I'm wrong). We have over 1.5k now (and growing steadily!). That's a lot of people, and since LGB Alliance seems to be led by older-generation volunteers, they might not know much about how the "drop the T" movement was silenced on Reddit. It would also be cool if we could spread some awareness about the notable anti-LGB, child-transing movements going on in Reddit:

  • The hostile takeover of AL and what it actually is right now-- a place that bans women who are same-sex attracted and who say they don't like dick. (E.g. I'll link a good example.)

  • The "ball" subreddits that encourage children to identify as transgender and advocate for violence (again, easy to collect examples - https://saidit.net/s/LGBDropTheT/comments/6vd2/rewriting_history_reddit_comic_1_claims_terfs/)

  • The "egg" subreddits which spread the message that you are trans and are just in denial about it, which gaslights people into believing they are trans and have "gender dysphoria".

TLDR Does anyone know if LGB Alliance is at all aware of 1. this community 2. the crazy stuff we've seen go down on reddit?

I just want to say – the idea of dropping the T is popular, but SaidIt isn't, hence the low numbers. The proof of droptheT growing fast was the actual reason of the ban on reddit.

Yup, I agree. But the fact that r/lgbdropthet had like 20k after being like 1 year old is noteworthy.

Precisely. Even though the platform for discussion about it was yeeted, the idea itself keeps growing.

Gotcha, makes sense. I am not so worried about the growth rate of this particular forum but what it says about the popularity of the idea.

I don't know, but yes you are correct that there were over 20,000 members on the Reddit version of this sub. (Verification: https://archive.vn/https://www.reddit.com/r/LGBDropTheT/* )

I am sure it would be helpful for them to know the history you mentioned, if they don't already.

Yeah? I was debating making an anonymous Twitter account just to reach out to them, but I haven't used twitter before so I'm not sure if you can even DM people that way.

That, I cannot definitively answer, though it looks like in certain cases you'd need to verify your phone number. This might be a good starting point, or someone else who uses Twitter more might have thoughts: https://help.twitter.com/en/using-twitter/direct-message-faqs

It might be just as easy to grab an email address from something like Protonmail.com, which shouldn't require you to submit real contact info for verification. (I am assuming they have a public email address, though I certainly wouldn't be shocked if they didn't, given the abuse they would receive.)

I asked the LGBAllianceUSA(from Ovarit) if they're aware of us and received the response:

I haven't heard anything from the LGBAllianceUK yet...I direct messaged them from their website.

No problem! Haven't heard anything from UK yet, whoever has twitter, maybe rhey can ask them? I do not use big social media like that.

Not sure what else to ask the LGBAllianceUSA team, haha. They respond fairly quick tho!
